DANG! Now you've even got ME excited!

Are you planning to do anything special to the "frame" (such as it is), to handle the torque of that V8? And will you do anything more to the engine itself (not that it sounded like it needed anything!)

Frank, I plan to install John's v8 frame rails to this car like the original v8 car did. It really really helps out on our cars and I would recommend it to everyone. Motor wise, alil more power I hope to get out of the car. Small upgrades will be a smaller pulley and intake with TB. Hopefully I can gain another 20+ at the wheels!

Paul, honestly the car could have been driven as is. The paint wasn't bad at all...but it would have needed to be redone sooner or later. Not bad for paint from '78. I am going with a much brighter red and flares to handle the new wheels! I will take some pics once they get here this week. I need to save for a CF hood and hatch. As the weather gets warmer, I can start cleaning parts from the v8 car to get em ready to swap over. This gives me time to do ball joints and other small things.

A list of some goodies to be installed:

CF ZG flares
CF Rear Tail Panel
CF Hood
CF Hatch
CF Bumpers
CF Airdam
Euro 240z Tail lights
New Seats with Belts

CCW wheels

So HUGE HUGE HUGE weekend! Have to thank Joe (Rags) for coming by Friday and working with me from 6pm-1am and then stopping by again for moral support Saturday for a few hours. Dave (Cygnusx1) also came by Saturday and gave me a hand for a few hours to pull rear ends out of both cars. Basically I have to have the cars off my dad's lift by Sunday night for opening of bizz Monday morning. I also was able to meet Marc and we hung out for a few hours. He was able to check out the cars in person and called me on Sunday to see what kind of progress I was making, thought that was very cool of him. So after about a solid 20+ hours this is what I have done so far.

Here are a few pics of my long weekend!

Looks like the 70s....:)

Plans are to take a break for a day or two. Order a few more parts and maybe get the motor in by mid next week. I am going to pull the intake and TB off and sell them if anyone is looking for a ls6 intake and port n polished TB. New set of plugs needs to go in and do the UD pulley and new belt. I will update some more when I upload the other pics. Got more done than I thought I would be able to do for a weekend!

Work goes SO much easier when you have a Pit Crew, doesn't it?

Marc seems like a cool guy, and I think you're both Engineers, aren't you? I'm sure he's gonna learn a lot from your project(s).

You are right...having someone else there does help big time. It was kind of cool to have someone look at my project that hasn't seen it before. It is a reminder of how far this car has come and it should be nice once done.

Here are some more pics:

Almost done breaking her down:

Word to the wise....when pulling the LSx out of our Zs like it is a F-body....headers and coil packs should be removed. I didn't do this at first and it slowed me up big time. Looks cool though right? =):

Looks like a great weekend Clive. I wish I lived closer. Some quailty wrenching time with Z guys would be awesome. You're lucky to have access to lifts, etc... Can't imagine doing all that laying on your back!!

Hey Phil! You are right about having the lift and air tools. I did the swap the first time with no lift or air tools and start in a garage that wasn't heated (Rochester,NY). It does make everything a lot faster....sometimes I still do things by hand because I have been working on the car for two years that way

Hey Clive,
Thanks for the pics. Looks like you got more done in a weekend than most people get done in a month! One of my pipe dreams is to someday have a "CTZCC" garage where members can schedule time to perform mechanical work or upgrades with lots of others lending a hand or just hanging out to learn. We need to sell a few more of Keith's shirts before that happens. Please keep us updated on progress with more pics. Ross
