Well we had a great time yesterday at the NJ show. The club was represented by five members including Greg Emmons, Tom Wasney, Mike Rosann, Dave Sirico and myself. Our small group took home three first place trophies, which just re-affirmed the judging results at our CT show for the vehicles of Tom Wasney and Mike Rosann. These guys were stacked against some extremely tough competition and still came out ahead of the pack. My 280 also won but with only three cars in its category - I was glad to have the trophie all the same! Good thing I did not drive the 350 as it was also an extremely competitive category.

We started the day with three Z cars leaving my house in Darien - those belonging to Dave Sirico, Mike Rosann and me. Somewhere in NJ an orange Z owned by Joe Wyks joined the group and we then picked up Barry Cohen in Parsippany. Once at the show it was time for our group to relax, many of which had no time to do so at our own show last month. It was a pretty cool day and sitting in the shade behind our cars was just what we needed after getting up so early.

The guys at the NJ show did a fantastic job of coordination and there must have been roughly 70-80 cars in attendance including one very drooled-over red GTR. Dave tried to win his second consecutive 50/50 raffle but was unsuccessful. All of us (I think) won something at the raffle table, which was well-stocked with goodies). Ken Lewis, the guy from NH that attended our show, was there and I believe he took home first place in the 240 category along with "longest distance travelled".

The caravan home was going well until we hit a wall of traffic about 10 miles short of the Tappan Zee. It must have taken us about an hour to get over that bridge and I'm sure Dave was as worried as I was about stalling, overheating, etc.

All in all it was a great day and we should try to increase our participation at next year's show. I know that many more of our cars would have driven away with trophies from this event.

Will post some pictures later. Ross

It was a great show and turnout for Z cars, representation was well mixed in all gens and that Skyline was a drooler, bright red with 20inch rims, but only 480hp, lol, supposedly purchased for $74k bucks. YOW..I caught up with the caravan in Jersey and it was a cool ride down 287 with 3 gens of Z cars. Show was then a real success and the ride back up 287 was another cool ride, we gassed up prior to heading back home and Ross left his tongue hanging out for all to see, Greg and he stopped to roll up the 280's gas flap and got it back under cover, thay rejoined us farther up the road and we stuck together til I took the thruway north and thay headed south to the TZ bridge, I had a little slowdown at the Harriman toll but it sounds like you guys really hit the backup for the bridge .. Here are a few pics......

From Paul Riccioli - NJZCC Club President:

Hope everyone enjoyed our 10th Annual New Jersey Z Car Show! This year we had 66 cars officially register to show their car, another several that came in late and participated without being judged and several more that came and parked on the other side of the Hotel. We had our 1st GTR particpate in the show! In total we had somewhere between 75 and 80 cars. The cars just keep getting better each year and it's great talking with all the Z people. We had people come in from several states including Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York, Maryland and New Hampshire. Honestly, Z people are just terrific!!

Once again I would like to thank several people who helped out prior and during the show:
The people include: Ed Rivera and Ro, John Marciano, Jerry Quinn, Ralph Ciccone, Dom Ciccone, John Ziak, Barry Cohen, Jan Elliott, Jim O'Mara and Pat Riccioli. Special thanks to Peter Riccardi our Events Coordinator who handled the trophies, Shirts and Raffle items. Hope I haven't missed anyone!!!

After the show we had what has become our traditional Bocce match: NJ vs PA. This was an Official Rubber Chicken Sanctioned Event (You need to see the trophy if you don't understand what this means!!) and then about 14 of us went to Applebees for Dinner.

Now back to Bocce!!! Steve Weyant Senior started the ball rolling, sort of speaking, when he showed up Friday in NJ with an official bocce tournament shirt, trying to psych out the NJ competition. Despite my plea for bocce ringers during the awards ceremony during the show, there were no new takers to play against the PA team. Once again it came down to the usual suspects to take on PA!

The NJ team resorted to a multi pronged attack during the bocce game consisting of the following strategy:

1) Use home court advantage! The grass court was extremely rough with lawn mower ruts, rocks, etc which required extrordinary skill (Some might argue Luck) to try to beat the competition. The NJ fans consisting of Barbara Marciano, Joan Ciccone, Sarah Ciccone and Pat Riccioli started the wave to change the momentum of the game.
2) Allow Kirk Towner from Maryland to play on the PA team! We knew Kirk was just a nice guy, and a poor innocent bystander who just did not fully comprehend the importance of the match. Kirk played well, but just didn't have any skin in the game.
3) We allowed Ralph Ciccone to take off his shoes like they "do in the old country". This immediately gave us a slight advantage and catepulted Ralph as Anchor of the team.
4) We went to the long game to take out PA's best player, Tina Weyant!! Steven Weyant immediately cried foul and tried to resort to the short game. Too little, too Late!!!!!!!!!!

NJ Wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PA Takes Home the Rubber Chicken Trophy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad NJZCC finally got to give up that rubber chicken award to Pa. Especially enjoyed the clickable chicken dance, brought a smile to my face.

Did you notice the blue Fairlady has Japanese plates? (Or maybe Okinawan; I can't see the first numbers).

Yeah Frank, they were cool looking, the same guy has an 84 or so Fairlady for sale also. I thought those rims were pretty sharp too, they were JDM also .

OK, so what's all this noise about a rubber chicken? Why does PA get to take it, if somebody else won? Did you guys actually have to do the Chicken Dance? Does it look like "The Chicken" the little miniskirted gals did back in the 1960s and 70s? :?:
And how does all this relate to Z cars?

What the HECK did you guys DO down there, anyway????
