I saw this car article today about a special edition 280Z for sale, and was surprised to learn that there was a video game in the late 1970's that featured the Datsun Z called 280 ZZZAP. Even more intriguing was that there was a limited edition appearance package for the 1977 model year inspired by the arcade game and called the 280ZZZAP edition.

Anyone ever see one, or play the game?

Hi Jay ~ Yup, we've had a couple ZZZAPs in the Club over the years. I fanned thru the Member Rides forum but none of them have been entered there. They exist in individual members' cameras from our car shows and outings. I recall a really spectacular one joining us for Bob Sharp Day at Lime Rock Park one year, but my photos of that great event are on another computer.

If you search our Annual Fall Outing picnic photos over the years, you should see some there, as well as some beautiful Black Pearls and Long Nose Zs.

Thanks Frank!

Yeah I think Ross has a black pearl right? The ZZZAP edition was a new one on me. Good stuff, and real cool that there were/are a few in the club. The story mentions that there were only 1,000 or so.

Ha! Ha! How lame were those old video games? I'm playing Forza 6 and 7 now, what a difference! I thought the actual ZZap Z had pretty cool graphics in it's day though.

Thanks for sharing this Jay!

You bet John!!

Lame is a great description haha. Video games have come a LONG way since then. The Forza games look awesome, I've seen YouTube videos of those. I really like how the cars are all based on real life cars- too cool.

I also thought the graphics on the ZZAP looked decent too.

I remember seeing the ZZap 280Z at one of our fall outings and I found it! In 2015 I took these pictures. Good looking car!

I would have expected that a person would need to have those made up if they needed them. That's cool that they are still available.
