By popular request, I have scheduled another "fun run" to Thompson Speedway. :D Last year's club gathering in September was well attended and enjoyed by all that participated.

Here are the details for this gathering:

Meeting Place: Thompson Speedway, Thompson CT
Date: Sunday, June 5, 2022
Time: Arrive around 10:30AM
CTZCC track Laps: 11:30AM
Fee: $5.00 per car
Rain Date: TBD*

Please check in at the entrance gate house to sign the required "waiver forms" before entering the track.

Scott Mayo (GM) has been a terrific supporter of our club and we want to keep it that way. So, please follow all the track safety rules during your visit to the track.

Lunch can be purchased at either the adjoining track-owned club house or at the track food stand. Last year my son and I had terrific lunch at the clubhouse. Prices are very reasonable too. So I suggest having lunch at the track to help show our appreciation for supporting this club gathering and allowing us on the track.

We are welcome to stay and watch the Thompson Club race their cars on the track. Who knows, we may even see a another Z car on the track!

IMPORTANT!*
If the weather forecast doesn't look good for that Sunday, I will cancel the event Friday and reschedule it for a later date.

PLEASE CHECK THIS POSTING FOR ANY UPDATES, CHANGES OR CANCELLATIONS ON FRIDAY EVENING JUNE 4TH.

Meet-up places for members driving to this event can be posted on this website topic. Be specific on the place and time to meet giving yourself ample time to arrive on time for the track laps.

For track details, directions, etc., go to "www.thompsonspeedway.com"

Let us know if you are planning to attend by replying this post.

SEE YOU AT THE TRACK!

If you want we can meet at a common spot on your way there from down south.
It might make it easier for people to get together in a group with some nice roads and scenery through the "Quiet " corner of CT.
We met there last year and it worked out fairly well.

The meet up spot is a State DPW station from there it is 35 - 40 minutes to the track so we would have to leave there around 9:15 or so.

I will try and make this when I get back from NY. (funeral) I leave Sunday so will miss Lime Rock but should be back for this and if I do was thinking on driving to Colchester for the 80's car show, just a thought. BTW Friday is the 3rd. That is if my parts get here this week so I can get it running.

Very interested in this. But a very tentative maybe...

Just pulled the 510 out of the garage for the first time this season yesterday, and away all next week.

If I can get it ready in time Ill try and make it.

So far we only have 4 or 5 people showing up for this event :( . Last time we had over a dozen. I sure hope you are all using the website to see what's happening  .

Weather permitting, this should be a great event again  .

Please respond to this post so we know how many people will be arriving at the track on Sunday.

Check again Friday or Saturday evening for updates

John,

Unfortunately, neither I nor my son will be able to attend the Thompson Speedway event again this year.

Josh and his fiancé will be bringing the 280zxt and her VW Cabbie along with several of his friends and their 80's/90's era cars to the 'BRING BACK THE RAD 80s & 90s CAR SHOW' being held on Sunday at a winery in Colchester. I've chosen to support him (and my once 280zxt) by attending the car show, especially since it is only a couple miles from our house. For once I don't have to drive halfway across the state to attend an event! I had hoped the event timing would allow me to attend both, but sadly they overlap.

Hope to make this event next year!

Hi Phil,

Rock on with the RAD show  . Sorry we will miss you and your son at the Thompson Track  . The weather looks great for both events  . I may try to swing by the show on my way back home depending on how long I stay at the track watching the club cars  .

Cheers!

Missing this one unfortunately…

8 hours in the truck yesterday and got home too late to get the car ready.

Enjoy the day!

Oh man, what a great day on what has become one of the premiere tracks in the northeast! Thompson iz the oldest purpose-built track in the country. Once again us s30 types led the field (4 out 0f 6), one of which was a 300hp 3 litre from the Quahog State! Attendees included Prez John Kish, ex-Prez for life Ross Willams in his Black Pearl and others. Side note: there were 3 s30 types who also attended last year's Z Mecca event.
The track iz truly invigorating, managed to hit 95mph on the 1/2 mile straight blowing by the Z Mecca guys in the process (ok Ross waz gracious enuff to wave me by, Juan claimed he did the same but itz debatable  ). Lunch in the clubhouse, followed by watching the Thompson Club boyz (high-dollar weekend warriors) thrash around the track. 4 car convoy on the 20+ mile run down I395 south to cap it all off. Still grinnin' like a fool.

Z on!
Al
