I'm sitting here watching the value of my own Z climb as his increases in value. Cars like John T's and Colin The Younger's and Lucky#13 are all stretching upwards in value each time a car like this one is sold.

As greedy as this makes me, I feel a sad note too. Our member Mike Englehart's words years ago echo in my head; the beauty of these great cars has always been that the average kid could afford one. Once they reach "Investor" prices, they become elite and untouchable to the little guy. It's because we can (could) still buy a roadworthy S-30 or S-31 for $6-$8,000 that this Club has over 800 members. If they become expensive enough to exclude the average kid from owning one, they may as well be Maserati or Ferrari.

Ya know what I mean, Vern?

Well after the $50,000 bid turned out to be a little funky, Bring A Trailer had to withdraw that bid.
However the bidding pushed on with a legitimate bidder winning the auction at $50,500 plus the 5% buyers fee.
What a bargain!
