Many of you know our club member Jim Kinsella who is recognized as one of the region's best auto paint technicians. He now has his own shop in Beacon Falls. Jim has worked on many of our club cars (including mine) as well as many others during his former stint at Auto Restorations in Stratford CT. His restoration work (including paint and body work) has brought may beautiful and rare cars to earn top honors at major car shows including the prestigious Concours de Elegance at Pebble Beach.

After a few recent visits to his shop, I thought it was unfair of me to keep this cool place such a secret, so I asked Jim if he would be interested in having some of our members visit his shop on a future weekend. Right now, he is working on 2 Porsche RSR's ( I think he's done 6 already), an Alpha, a Jag E-Type (my dream car) and will be getting an ultra-rare Spanguenelli race car in (see picture) for restoration shortly. This car will be shown at Pebble Beach next spring.

Jim said that he would welcome a visit from us. The meeting would be an informal and casual "car guy" (or gal) gathering that I'm sure would be very interesting to all that would attend.

I will coordinate the date(s) with Jim with the arrival of the Spanguenelli and advise you as soon as that happens. Since this will be an "off season" event, your precious Z car does not have to make the trip, especially if the roads start getting all that nasty snow, sand and salt. :P

Please respond to this forum topic if you are interested in attending.

Sign me up. I have only ever seen one real Stanguellini before, and I'd love to talk with Master Kinsella again.

Sounds interesting and is not far from home. It will be good to see Z friends during the off season.
I will keep a "lock out" for future posts.

Alan

This is a quick update just to let you know that I haven't forgotten you.

The Stanquellini has not arrived at Jim's shop yet as it has been delayed getting some race hardware installed at another shop. Because of this, it will not be going to Pebble Beach this spring and therefore Jim's scheduled work on it has also been delayed. I will keep you posted on it's progress, or may just schedule something sooner just to get us together to see some of the cool cars he is working on now.

Stay Tuned :)

Sad but So true.

It's so easy to be your straight man at times.

Everyone is anxious to get their cars out for spring, so hopefully this gathering will get some of us together with (or without) our Z cars depending on the weather.

We are tentatively scheduling the meeting at Jim Kinsella's shop for SUNDAY, APRIL 8th at 10AM. Saturdays are no longer good for Jim as his son has already started baseball practice.

While the Stanquellini will probably not make it to Jim's shop by then, he does have a number of very interesting cars being worked on including:
2- Porsche 911/RSR conversions
1- Alfa Duetto
2- Jaguar E Types

Come join us for an informal gathering to catch up on Z stories, restoration techniques and car stuff. Space is limited so bring a chair.

Please post your intentions on joining us through this message topic no later than Wednesday April 4th.

I will bring the coffee and donuts

The address is:

141 South Main Street
Beacon Falls, CT
Bldg. 15, Unit 2

This is an old 2-story red brick factory building converted over to shops and retail. Jim's unit is around back. The building is right off the RT 42 "dogleg" where it crosses over RT 8.

Z U There!

John,
Sounds like a great event. Put me on the list.
The drive from home on Route 42 can be an adventure.
Zee you there,
Alan

:| Hmmmmm....

Checking my social calendar I see I am already committed to meet with Julia Roberts for breakfast that morning, and spend the day together with her on her island.

Let me make a phone call and see if I can postpone her to another time.
