I am re-scheduling the fun run from my August 8th posting which was cancelled due to the weather. The new date is SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 23.

Hopefully this gives those interested enough time to plan to join in the fun. Now if mother nature can only cooperate this time.

9AM - Meet at Heavenly Donuts, RT 34W in Derby CT. (about a mile west from RT15 Merritt Pkwy)

10:00AM - Leave Heavenly Donuts, Take RT34W to RT8N, Take RT8N to RT67W in Seymore CT. (7.3M miles)

Take RT67W through Southbury, Roxbury to New Milford to RT7 (26 miles)

Take RT7N through Kent CT, pass Kent State Park, pass Limerock Park to North Canaan CT (39 miles)

11:30 - 12:30 Meet at the Caddie Shack on RT7N in North Canaan CT for quick lunch, restroom, ice cream, minigolf, batting cage, or just relax. Plenty of safe parking. This is a classic little burger, dog stand with outdoor and screened in picnic tables. Note: I visited this place today and verified that it will be opened through mid October.

12:30PM - Depart Caddie Shack, Take RT7N cross into MA, go through Sheffield MA, Great Barington MA to RT183N (14 miles)

Continue on RT183N to Norman Rockwell Museum (5 miles) (stop and visit is optional)

Continue on RT 183N to RT102E, pass RT7, go through Stockbridge MA (stop optional - typically crowded street parking) to RT20E (7 miles)

Take RT20E to Beckett MA , to RT8S (7 miles)

Take RT8S through Otis, cross state line into CT to Colebrook Reservoir boat launch area (20 miles). Large parking area, nice view, restroom.

The group can disperse from here by continuing down RT 8S to RT44 E/W, or RT8N to 57E towards Agawam MA, etc.

PLEASE ADD ANY SUGGESTIONS AND LET US KNOW IF YOU PLAN TO MEET WITH US IN DERBY OR SOMWHERE ELSE ALONG THE WAY.

I hope to Z you Saturday! :D

Excellent plan, John. Please count me in. Do we get to zee Vinny or RDZ in New Milford?

Any guess of the total round-trip mileage?

It would be cool to get Big Al to come along; he's done this once and had a respectable time.

Frank

Thanks Frank!

I'll contact Vinny Bedini and RDZ to see if they are open to a short visit from us on that Saturday morning. The trip from Derby all the way back to Derby would be about 150 miles. Obviously less if others join or depart the trip from other places.

Wow, Berkshire county is forecasting PERFECT Z-weather for this Saturday! Clear, bright, 75*F with low humidity and a slight breeZe :D

Please, let's do this! Lots of room for other Zs to join us, too; it's less than 200 miles round-trip which would get us all home in time for dinner with the family before dark, let us walk the kids and help the dog with homework. Probably cost each of us well under $40 and give us a Z day together on some of the nicest Z roads New England has to offer. Big Al, Karl, you, me, maybe some others....It will be a blast. Can we spend 20 minutes with Vinny and RDZ along the way too?

I spoke with Vinny yesterday. He will be at a car show in Walkill NY on Saturday. If you want to visit RDZ, that is not too far off the beaten path but it is up to you guys. I don't have a real need myself to see RDZ as I'm still one of the old school guys keeping my 46 year old Z close to stock. I'd be happy to go though if there is a real interest from others.

Frank, do you know the RDZ guys? Is Scott Cole still there? We can decide at the Donut shop whether to go to RDZ or not. Did you get in touch with Big Al?

Weather still looks good for Saturday!

Scotty Cole's no longer there, but we all know our member Rich Amatulli who owns RDZ. I would have to check whether he's there on Saturdays or not. It's their new shop (well, a year old) and I've not seen it yet, so I sure wouldn't mind stopping off and stretching my legs and swapping stories with Rich for a few minutes if nobody objected.
I finally got in touch with Big Al and he's going to read this thread and zee if he can get involved this weekend.
