I am very excited to invite all area Z fanatics to the CTZCC 12th annual Fall Outing!

Many people say this is their favorite event of the season due to the relaxed format. No need to wash, polish, wipe or wax - just show up hungry and preferably in your Z!

Every participant that shows up in a Z, Roadster, 510 or GTR will be automatically entered into a free raffle of items from the club. Included in the raffle will be FOUR framed posters donated personally by Bob Sharp.

Date:
Saturday, October 21st
Rain date: Sunday, October 22nd

Location:
97 Christie Hill Road
Darien, CT 06820

Time:
10:00am – 3:00pm

Off-street parking (on level grass) for approximately 70 cars – overflow space for additional cars if necessary.

Rear enclosed yard for young children.

Spouses, friends and children all welcome!

The club will provide food and beverages.

You can bring: folding lawn chairs, desserts!, unneeded parts for our free swap area.

Please no pets, drugs, alcohol, engine revving, burn-outs, etc.

Hope to see you there!

Super news of a zuper event, Ross. Our calendar has been marked "in pencil" since whenever! I will be there with camera in hand.

Now, it's time to begin thinking about a super sized Caravan. In the past we have started at the BJ's parking lot at the intersection of Rt 5 and the Wilbur Cross Parkway in Wallingford, with pick-up points at each rest-stop.

Your ideas are certainly welcome.

Big Al ~ I will go Rte 15 this year. Less traffic, fewer troopers and more scenery. Plus the trees are closer to the roadsides so it makes me feel I'm going faster.

Jay !!! Finally we get to meet you and zee your Z? About time.
Sad that this will be the first year without Bob Sharp (unless Ross figures a way to smuggle him back here for the weekend). It would have been very cool for you to have met him.

Looking fwd to this as usual. Too bad we can't get Mike Rosann back here from SLC to direct traffic and park us again.

Frank

I'm excited about it too Frank, and it's definitely overdue. I thought I'd have been to at least two or three events with you guys by now.

Im holding out hope that Bob may make a surprise appearance.

And I'm planning on bringing my Z. Unless we get some unusual weather that weekend. Does anyone know if there is a place to buy ethanol free gas in that area? My Z is much happier on that than running on normal blended gasoline.

Four framed Bob Sharp posters will be raffled off for free at our outing. Each participant that arrives in a Z, GTR, 510 or Roadster will be given a ticket. These posters are from Bob's personal collection.

For anyone who hasn't seen him in 40yrs, that's 6-time SCCA world champion Bob Sharp in the red jacket, presenting an autographed photo to our member Bill Moreau. Bob effectively put the 240Z Datsun on the American map and created one of the most-formidable racing teams in American history (Bob Sharp Racing).

If I'm not mistaken, that picture is of the 280 (GT/O) car with which Bob blew a tire and flipped at over 170mph. He walked away from the crash with a broken wrist which effectively ended his own racing career. He went on to manage many big name champion race drivers under the BSR name. Among the most famous names racing for Bob were Elliot Forbes Robinson ("EFR"), Tom Cruise (who wrecked a BUNCH of Bob's race cars), Sam Posey, David Hobbs and some guy named Newman.

Bob has a thousand stories about racing in the 70s and 80s and can make tears of laughter run down both your cheeks with the way he describes his near-misses and narrow escapes.

Bob's son Scott Sharp is today an ALMS racing champion in his own right, driving for Patron. Bob allowed him to drive go-karts when he was very young, and Scott developed it into his own lifetime career.

 This is one of the greatest Z car gatherings in the North East and beyond, a great closing to the Zeason as well. Thank you Ross and Brenda for doing this, and I'm sure from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for keeping the CTZCC spirit alive. I will make my usual contribution of free parts. As far as that I-95, I have found ways around it since I have to go to NY often.....and I'll save all the ZCON stories for that day, just been a busy summer , but I think this will be the cool down ahhhhhhh summer is over event. &FYI, I love cooking real good food from our local farms, so if I can help lighten the load, just let me know. (other career>retired Souse chef for the rich and famous of Newport) Chow
