I thought the roadster was finally ready for the road. Not! After new alum. radiator install, everything looked good. Flow seemed good. Then a test drive ...... really hot today, and temp climed to 210. Check with infra red showed 222 at thermostat housing. After some cool down using elec. fans noticed the top hose and top of rad. very hot still, bottom of red. and lower hose very cool. Overflow tank full. Seems all is not well in Camelot.

Checked timing ...... 12, this needs to be retarded.
In the morning will check fluid level and see if perhaps an air bubble got caught in system causing thermostat not to open. A vacuum was used when refilling so this should not have happened. Can only hope it's that simple.

But wait, there's more.
When setting up to check timing, tried to start and everything went DEAD.
NOTHING TO FUSE BOX. Power to starter. Took awhile, but after chasing wires and contacts found the fusable link on firewall to be at fault. Cleaned and greased contacts, replaced and all is well. Luckily it didn't happen on the road.

Funny that Frank just recently posted on the air pocket syndrom. I'm hoping it's that simple even though everything seemingly was done to avoid it. More tomorrow.
Jack
