Z friends and family,

The events director for the NYZCC and long time Larchmont Police Captain, Tommy Sullivan and his family were tragically killed last night in a home fire. They are survived by their 20 year old son who escaped. Tommy, his wife Donna, and his two daughters did not survive the fire.

As we receive more information we will update this thread:

As many of you know Tommy was a great guy, willing to help anyone and loved his family. Tommy passed away a hero as news reports say he saved his son's life and went back into the burning house for the rest of his family. Tommy and his family will be forever remembered and loved by the NYZCC family. Please keep them and their extended family in your prayers.

Oh no...I heard this story on the radio this morning, thinking what an awful tragedy...but did not know it was Tommy and his family.

Tommy was a such a great guy...I had the pleasure of hanging out with him at a couple of NYZCC events....and was looking forward to seeing him again soon. He and his family will be greatly missed. Extremely sad news.

Sincerest Condolences.

Clive,
Thanks for letting us know. The NYZCC has lost an irreplaceble officer, member and friend. Our condolences are with you.

Tommy and Donna were an active presence at our Fall Outings and other events. I'll never forget when Tommy walked up to me and asked if he could take over "nametag administration". I didn't know what to say because it was such a gracious offer. He always had a smile on his face and loved that blue 280Z (as do I). What a tragedy.

There aren't that many people I would say this about but I loved that guy. I suspect anyone who knew him felt the same.

You will be greatly missed our friend.

Very very very sad. It was an honor to meet him and we had some great conversations. We even got to toss the baseball around and talk about the Mets. I remember he didn't even need a glove caught the ball barehanded. My condolences go out to the family.

I am sure Tommy is smiling down on us right now.

Personally I have taken this news very hard and trying to stay focused on being positive as Tommy always was and his family.

The nicest guy is all I can say for now........

This is so Sad. I can't really wrap my mind around this. Tommy was always smiling and eager to help. A wonderful Man and family lost. My heart breaks for his son, family, closest friends, colleagues, and all of us that got to know him and Sullys Z.

Clive so Sorry for the loss of your good friend.

This is a rough one. I remember some good conversations with him, from the photo above I can still hear his happy voice. I can't imagine his son...losing his whole family.

An unthinkable tragedy. I am stunned. Life is brief and precious indeed, enjoy the ride. Our prayers to them and their family.

I never met Tommy, but it is quite evident that he had a great impact on many people. My prayers go out to him and his family, especially his son. I am just 19 years old, close to Tommy's son's age. I cannot IMAGINE living my life without my two parents and my sister. And he has lost two. Hang in there buddy, the Good Lord has a plan for all of us.

Hang in there Clive and please keep us posted.

This is a terrible tragedy and a great loss, Mike and I would see Tommy and his various family members at many events we would attend, local area car shows and even the Hemmings Sport and Exotic show in Saratoga, was looking forward to seeing him again at Rhinebeck this weekend, last year when I had my BMW at the show he walked through the flea market area and ended up finding me a small pin with the BMW logo on it, he was just that kind of guy, always wanting to do something caring for someone else... A really super guy as many of us know, he and his family will be sorely and surely missed by a great many people...God bless them all and rest in peace.........

I will confirm and fill in details tomorrow. Funeral arrangements are for 9am this Saturday in Carmel, NY. I can't believe they are gone. I always looked forward to hanging out with Tommy and his family at the local car shows. Tommy Sullivan Jr. needs our prayers right now.

No, no, nooooo.....

Tommy was love-driven and fun-fueled. I will miss him a lot. He sent me cards each Christmas and one had that photo on it. We often talked about the perils of police work and I know he would want us to remember his final act ~ trying to rescue his family. John 15:13.

We should all hope for such an honorable departure from this world. I will remember him as a hero.

But we'll see them all again. The Bible promises that. And I believe it.

Please keep us updated on the funeral arrangements. I'm sure Larchmont will have a full Regiment of Irish pipers present.

Clive, I know you and Tom were tight. I feel for you and for all NYZCC members. We share your loss.
