Greetings,
Jim Arnett (jim.arnett) told me about CTZCC.COM, so I though I would join and learn.

In addition to my Z projects, I just acquired a 1966 520 truck, so anyone with knowledge to share of the J13 motor would be great to connect with.
Keith

Well howdy, Keith, welcome to thisheer Club. Glad to have somebody
else in the group that I can understand without an interpreter (used to
live in Belton, just about 130 miles down I-35 from you). Just down the
street, as things in TX go.

A lot of Series 1 240-Z folk here and on other Z sites are kinda goofy
about low VIN numbers. I see you own a '70, what are the VIN# and
production date? What color is it? How long have you had it? Did you
buy a show car or did you have to bring her back from some state of
disrepair? If so, how long did it take? All that kind of stuff.

I know about the 520 truck, and some of its predecessors, having had
a 521 and a 620. But I don't know about the J-13 engine. I do know
about the A-13 and A-14, though, so it couldn't be a whole lot different
from those.

Best tell us a little about yourself, too, while you're at it!
Don't be bashful, get in there and mix it up with us a lot.
We like that.

All Z Best,.............................Kathy & Rick

Hi Keith! Glad to hear from someone in Plano, and any friend of Jim's is a friend of ours. Sounds like you have some interesting vehicles out there and you were no doubt inspired by Jim's outstanding efforts on his 240Z. (and thanks Jim, for recruiting another owner! Your shoebox full of twenties will be on its way to you as soon as Keith actually registers with us). (Maybe).

Keith, I've been having some pretty serious email problems lately, so you might have already registered with us and I didn't get your application yet, but as of this moment I don't show you as a member, just as a Forum user.

On our Website homepage, please take a moment and press that big red button at the top. It takes about 45 seconds to fill in the information and then you're an official member of the best Club you'll ever join for free. If you're a 911 Porsche owner, it might take you an extra minute to fill in the application, according to our experience!

Your personal information is STRICTLY confidential ~ we don't sell our membership list or share it with anyone; not even other members can see or obtain your personal info without your specific authorization. Anything you want the membership to know about you, you'll have to tell them yourself.

If you've already filled in your application, don't do it twice ~ it will eventually catch up to me and then I would get really confused (I'm only moderately confused normally  ). When I get your application I'll send you a letter explaining some need-to-know things about the CTZCC and our 400+ wonderful members.

Until then, I want to hear more about your carz!

I have owned my 240Z since 1987 and am in the process of a rebuild. The color is 920 Safari Gold.

I have owned my 300ZX since 1996. The color is AG2 Aztec Red. It is a 2+2.

I have owned my 520 since May 2010. The color is blue (I have not researched the code.) I am in the process of rebuilding the J13 engine. Most people I have spoken to encourage me to do an engine swap, however my goals for the car is to be original as possible.

Having purchased the 240Z in the late 1980, I was able to start accumulating parts for the enviable rebuild. I am about 40-50 percent done with the project, but I am getting distracted by the 520.

Having spent a single winter in a Texas town (and still trying to thaw out), I wonder how our Lone Star members are doing down there this winter? Here in CT we are watching last week's 18" of snow dissolve under occasional driZZling rains and 40*-50* temps. Our roads are wet but clear. Because the North throws roadsalt everywhere they can, we dare not drive our Zs during this zeason.

I did, however, run out to the garage and fire up the Z for a bit on New Year's Eve, just before midnight. The family called me in 3 minutes before the ball dropped to watch the year begin together.

Hey Frank,
Compared to that Nor'easter that blasted you guys last week, our weather has been downright balmy. No thanks to the "la nina" effect, we have been generally dry (too dry!) and reasonably warm - certainly good weather for classic Z's. Keith even called to remind me of the monthly Cars 'n Coffee Saturday morning (temp 32 degrees).

Just yesterday morning at breakfast I was describing to my wife all the hibernation efforts you folks have to perform and lose about 6 months of driving pleasure out of each year. She gave me one of "those" looks and said "another reason not to live up north". I did not have a good response.

Happy New Year to all at CTZCC.

Jim

On the bright side Jim, we get to take our Z's out of hibernation every year and experience that 'first time ride' over and over again!

Hi Keith:
Good to see you here - I think you will enjoy this group. I also support your efforts to keep the 66 520 Pickup stock.

FWIW,
Carl B.

Welcome Keith. Nice, you have a 520 truck as well. I have the 720 4x4, slightly newer. The old trucks from Datsun rule :!: I wonder if we have enough in the club to have an all Datsun show. I mean No Z's, just trucks and cars, none with a Nissan tag.......just wishful thinkin. :D So welcome again, hope to see a Z or truck of yours at the next show. I'll probably have a Z, my truck ain't lookin to good.
