I'm dressed and on my way out the door now for the wake and intend to attend tmrw's service, too.

Dear Foote Family,

Truly sorry to hear of your loss. Colin was a super guy and wonderful to be around. Just like his dad, Robin. I remeber taking a ride to the house last year in my Z and picking up a few parts for my Z. They were so excited I was there and couldn't say enough nice things about my car.

Colin, you will be missed everyday, but rest assured I will always cherish your kind words and friendship. Robin, words can not express how deeply sorry I am for you. My heart aches for you. Always know you raised a fine young man who is loved by many.

Always your friend,
Ron Morales

The funeral home service was packed. Several hundred visitors filled the inside of the funeral home and stretched out the front door, down the sidewalk and into the parkinglot. More than 100 people were outside when I joined the end of the line. It took more than 2 hours to get from the back of the line to the front. We should all be loved enough to draw such a crowd at our own funerals. I've lived in small towns which didn't have that many people in them.

Rick, I saw you there but couldn't catch your attention from the back of the line, and by the time I got inside, you were gone.

Several wall-mounted flatscreens throughout the funeral home played loops of Colin's lifetime pictures. Each screen had a different montage. It moved me to see so many pictures of the Z cars Robin and Colin had worked on together.

The CTZCC sent a floral arrangement on behalf of the Membership. I saw several others from individual Club members, as well. There were many hundreds of people present to say goodbye to our buddy. Colin looked good; maybe the first time I've ever seen him completely clean-shaven. I met his full family for the first time. They are holding up well, but this is a trying time for each of them.

For anyone who intends to attend the church services tmrw, be advised of a major bridge detour on the way (bridge is closed). If your directions tell you to leave I-95 at exit #3A in Rhode Island, you will encounter a major detour along Rte 138 which will add about 20 miles of back-country roads to your trip. Police are on-station to guide you at each turn, and they know why we're there and where we're headed. They are helpful but it still adds about 45 minutes to your trip. Plan accordingly and re-route your trip to avoid Rte 138.

Frank, Ross - I'd like to throw in a few dollars towards this and other club expenses. Although I only met Colin in passing, I see similarity between his father/son relationship and my own. Working on cars is one of those things that is passed down, and in a funny way its more about the relationship than the mechanics.

Is there a pay-pal set up yet, or shall I mail a cheque?

While nothing can undo the damage done, it looks like the driver has been arraigned on felony charges.

I attended the funeral service today in Bradford, RI and as you can imagine, it was a packed church. A beautiful day and a beautiful service to remember an impressive young man and friend. From the crowds it was obvious he made a large impact on many people, who will surely miss his presence in their lives.

Farewell our friend - we will remember you and our time together.

I received an e-mail from Robin Foote this morning containing a link to his Boston Globe obituary and a request. When you have time, PLEASE post a comment on the need for justice at one of these publications. I will try to post the links later but one of them appears below

1) Obituary in the Boston Globe:

http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/obitu ... d_friends/

2) Please let the membership and any readers know that we would be extremely grateful for anyone to make a comment about the need to achieve justice in the prosecution of the young woman who, with 27 previous driving citations and reckless abandon, ran the light and took the life of our beloved Colin. There are several blogs and comment opportunities on the Boston Globe, Providence Journal and other Rhode Island newspapers and television media websites.

You can leave comments on the ProJo website below:

I am so deeply touched and moved. Through my tears I am writing to everyone to thank you so much for your thoughts and memory of Colin. One of his friends said "Colin lived above the world". I believe he truly did and can behold your words, thoughts and prayers at this moment - and forever.

I believe there could be no more fitting tribute to Colin than filling an event display space for him with a poster of him and his car. We will find the right picture(s) to display at his "parking spot" at club events. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

If any of you are so inclined, please learn more about the circumstances of how Colin was run down by a repeat offender who has been arrested on 27 previous occasions yet was allowed to continue to drive and run through a red light at a major intersection. Good details can be found at: http://www.projo.com/news/content/CHARL ... 14eee.html

After reviewing the details, please, please contact the RI attorney General's office to express your outrage at the tragic and senseless loss of Colin and call for the maximum criminal punishment provided under the law. Contact (there is no published website - perhaps one can be located):

Interesting.

Reale is the niece of state Sen. Dennis L. Algiere, R-Westerly. A number of anonymous comments on The Sun's website imply that Algiere may have had an influence on Reale's past judgments related to her appearances in traffic court.

Algiere vehemently denies any involvement on behalf of Reale.

Ross,

Thanks for your support today. I have attached the other picture we have of colin holding the Larz Anderson "Best Datsun" trophy last August.

Hope this is the proper way to respond to this thread. Please post it for all others.

Thank you.

Robin
