I took my Z out today and stopped by Jim's shop in Bethany to see what he has been working on. He just finished paint and bodywork on 2 Porsche 911 R body's and will be finishing up his work on a really cool 1955 Porsche 356 Continental convertible. Pics are attached. I love his toy store!

I remember lusting over one of those cars, hiding in the corner, last time I visited to see the Stanguellini.

That looks like a fun shop to hang around at.

For a short time in the 1960s I owned one of the final single-grille '59 SC cabriolets. It was in rough shape. The big engine had been replaced by a much weaker thing which leaked oil constantly. We pulled it out, rebuilt it, and it still leaked. The Blaupunkt radio didn't work, and the optional gasoline heater routinely tried to set the car on fire. The owner's manual was in German, so I took a high school German class just to learn what I was doing wrong with that heater. The detachable fiberglass/aluminum hard top was worth more than the whole rest of the car.

Even in that condition, that car would be worth over $90,ooo today. Restored, it would be worth a new house.

I love the 911's but out of my price range, but not my new 928s. Plus, I like V8's. This is a 302, and 32 valves, 288 HP. My new learning experience. Fits me like a glove, nice ride. (not my actual car in pic, but exact to the T) (pics soon)

That would've been a good one to hang on to Frank! What color was yours?

Paul,

Congrats on the "new" 928s. Those are nice cars, I drove one just like the one you posted.....same color and all. It belongs to a friend of mine, it's a manual transmission car. I've read most were automatics. They are fun cars. Good luck with yours.

Jay
