Juan Manuel Fangio said he had 5 'favorite' race cars; one was a Ferrari, one was the 300 Mercedes, and the other 3 were all Maserati. You already know I'm biased toward old Masers and love the sound of them.

The lightweight 2.5L, 220bhp 250F was one of the greatest GP cars of the mid-'50s and even into the early '60s. Fangio did more with this car than Nuvolari did in the Bugatti, Alfa or Auto Union cars.

Nothing sounds like a straight-6 Maserati and here is the proof, for your casual enjoyment:
