Post subject:  Thor visits the USA again

Our German member Thorsten Link (THOR) has arrived in the USA with his TV documentary sound and video crew. They will spend a long week traveling to many states to look at certain vehicles.

Thor is a TV moderator/producer for a German TV car show. He has the best job in the world; they pay him to travel all over Germany and Europe to visit unique and historic vehicles, interview the owners, and ride around in the cars while his film and sound crew record the fun! Can you imagine? HA! Where do I sign up??!

Apparently they have driven and reported on every interesting car in Europe, because they are now here to find and film specific vehicles of American TV and movie fame. They are bouncing around from Chicago to NC, TN, DC, FL and some others. On their list of vehicles to film and ride in are the James Bond collection museum vehicles in Chicago, Steve McQueen's '68 Bullitt Mustang, the horrible 1960 Peterbilt "281" tanker truck which chased and Dennis Weaver's Plymouth Valiant thru the desert in "DUEL", Dennis Weaver's (very-heavily used) Plymouth Valiant from that movie, Burt Reynolds' Firebird and Jerry Reed's Kenworth from SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT, the Rubber DUCK (!!! ) 18 wheeler Mack tuck from "CONVOY", Steven King's 1958 "CHRISTINE" Plymouth Fury, Columbo's 1959 Peugeot 403 convertible and others. Germans are hot for classic American movie cars.

Thor's crew will leave him in Florida after filming the Peugeot and he will spend a couple days visiting our member Carl Beck and our member Jimbo Frederick at Z-Mecca. His itinerary and tight schedule preclude him from visiting us this time, but he sends his regards. Wonder why they don't want to see Terminator's Harley?

And by the way, tmrw's the anniversary date of that song:
https://youtu.be/RVh179oXFao

"By the dark of the moon on the 6th of June in a Kenworth hauling logs...
Cab-over Pete with a reefer on and a Jimmy haulin' hogs.."

It's also the 74th anniversary of the Normandy D-Day invasion.

NEWS FROM THOR:

Thor writes that he has successfully contacted the vehicles on his list and had a great time doing it:

"Hey what an exciting filming with very nice people and car enthusiasts . I will never forget for the rest of my live. Plenty of work and traveling, tons of fun. I love this country and it‘s people!!

Thor"

Thorsten will now bid his crew farewell as they fly from Florida back to Germany. He will remain on the Gulf Coast for a few days and visit awhile with Carl Beck and Jimbo Frederick, both our members. Great work, Thor! I think you have the best job in the world; people pay you to go play with fun cars!
