 Haha! Good morning, Howie! How's your Leather Neck?

I signed-on with the sole intent of wishing you a happy 242nd Birthday and reminding everyone that today marks the honored celebration of our beloved Corps. You were quicker on the draw this year than I was. Well done.

All Marines today, former and present, ban together to acknowledge the birthday of the United States Marine Corps on 10Nov 1775. We pre-date the country by nearly a year. Marines have distinguished themselves in literally every war our nation has engaged in since inception. A little-known trivia is that the Corps (the foremost authority on amphibious beach landings during the 1920s, '30s and '40s) sent a small detachment to England to teach successful tactics to the gathering Normandy invasion fleet, which changed the direction of WWII in Europe. The main body of the Corps focused their might against the Japanese in the Pacific during the entire war.

If you know a Marine, call him (or her) today and recogniZe the esteemed history he or she will be celebrating

Around the globe tonight, Marines will gather at the annual U.S. Marine Corps Birthday Ball in their area, wearing their uniforms and showing off their finest ladies.....then getting as drunk as possible and creating another year's worth of Sea Stories. OoooRahh!

If you know a Marine, call today to tell them you recogniZe the legacy and esteemed history they all celebrate on this date. Thanks to all who have served our beloved Corps, and to those who may someday survive the incredible rigors of Marine Corps Boot Camp and become worthy to wear the Eagle, Globe and Anchor.

To all my brothers, Semper Fidelis.

Frank- I'm always willing to stick my leather neck out for just causes. I always enjoy your down to earth/truthful stories and vignettes. There's never a need to ask you to stand down. Keep it going junior. :D

SIR, YES SIR!!

I've already called my Senior Drill Instructor (SgtMaj/Ret) and two other Marine veterans I know, as well as my local USMC Recruiting office, to wish them all HBD.

Here Howie, this is for you. Happy birthday, Marine:

DEVIL DOGS,

I stand to wish my circle of Marines a very happy and healthy 242nd Marine Corps Birthday. Although the river of time continues to flow and many things change around us, the time each of us spent serving our country and Corps continues to bond us together forever as brothers, regardless which generation we served in. The Corps changed each of us, forever. We all earned some scar, visible or hidden, from our time in the Marines. They are the cost of freedom, and the price of pride.

Each time I lose faith in today's generation of civilians, I glance at today's generation of Marines and come away re-assurred. The Corps may change, but Marines never do. Like most of us, I see the Corps more clearly thru hindsight (and maturity) than I ever did while on AcDu, and it makes me prouder every year.

I wish each of you a successful 242nd year. Thank you for your dedication to our Corps; you made a difference. Thank you for carrying the torch during your Watch. Our service was seldom a pleasure, but always an honor.

Semper Fi,
Frank
