Rock and Roll legend Antoine "Fats" Domino Junior has died at age 89 in his native New Orleans.

Every single one of us have danced to and sang along with this inimitable pianist and blues writer. He sold more than 110,000,000 records, drove flashy pink Cadillacs and paid cash for Rolls Royces out of his pocket, but lived his life in New Orleans' impoverished Lower 9th Ward. Hurricane Katrina flooded his home, destroying several pianos and destroying many of his gold and platinum records.

Any one of us can still sing his hits; Strawberry Hill, Ain't that a Shame, Walkin' to New Orleans, I Want to Walk You Home, and others. His songs were often featured in the TV hit series, Happy Days. You remember.

So long, Fats Domino. You contributed a lot of happiness to a lot of childhoods.
Somehow this makes me feel very old.
And very sad.
