We have a full moon tonight and a 2.5hr partial eclipse tmrw. We're off the path of the total eclipse but we should get part of it. It will begin about 1330, max at 1500 and fade at 1600.

Can't watch it. Neighbors get angry when I start howling.

I know exactly what you mean. All my neighbors have moved away years ago. I live on a deserted road now. It's tough having to mow everybody's lawn just to keep my own property value up.

Frank,

How is your car running, and more importantly how are YOU doing? Haven't seen you in a while and was wondering if you were up for a little fun run, say up in the NW corner, Berkshires, or anywhere for that matter while the weather is still good.

Both the Z and I are doing fine John, thanks. I wait until the heat is down in the afternoons and let the Z convert a 1/2 tank of 93 octane into motion and noise a few times a week. Still get people giving me thumbs-up and fist-pumps when I pass them on the street (at least, that's what I THINK they're doing).

A few years back a bunch of us Clubbies got together and Z'd up to the little town of Stockbridge Mass to eat lunch at Alice's Restaurant and rake leaves at the old church, but I'm thinking the Rest-a-raunt is out of business now. It is still a really nice drive up there and we got lucky with no traffic so we all got to play with the Zs on the open roads of the rolling Berkshires. It was one of my happiest Z memories; great cars and fun guys. We all had a good time and after piZZa we actually sang the final chorus to Alice's Restaurant Massacree in 4-part harmony on the way out of Alice's. All the customers and staff cheered and applauded but nobody threw any money, so none of us quit our day jobs.

Stockbridge was the home of Norman Rockwell and there's a museum to him there, so if nothing else is open that's always available. Many other restaurants to eat at up there, even if Alice's (Theresa's Stockbridge Cafe) is closed. About 100 miles round-trip, and a stop at Vinny's could be easily arranged on the way back. Figure to spend about $60 total (unless Vinny glues any parts back onto the cars) and bring a camera.

We should do this on a Sat morning, not too early. It takes an hour to get there from B'port so we could leave from farther away at 10:00 and still be there for lunch. Trust me ~ the more cars we can muster, the more funner it is.

A great drive and a fun Z memory for life.

Frank,

I remember you writing about that trip. I was bummed that I didn't know about and would have loved to have joined in at Alice's restaurant. I have taken the old Z up that way many times as it is one of my favorite drives in the East.

I've done this route many times:

Rt 67 west to New Milford

Rt 7 south New Milford - See Vinny?

Rt 7 north through Kent, past Limerock to Canaan CT - Stop at the Caddy Shack for quick bite, icecream, restroom. Have played mini golf there.. Plenty of safe parking. Batting cages also

Rt 7 north cross state line, go though Sheffield MA, Great Barrington MA to Rt 183 north

Rt 183 north to Norman Rockwell's museum? Optional of course. (Or take beautiful Rt 23 east to Rt 8 south if we didn't want to go that far north)

183 north to 102 east to Stockbridge

102 east to Lee to 20 east

Rt 8 south to CT line - Stop at Colebrook reservoir, lots of parking, pictures restroom

Group can take alternate routes home from there

The trip for me as about 180 miles short version, 200, long version. about 4-5 depending on stops.

Open to any suggestions guys. Can we do this on Saturday August 12th?

That date's open on my calendar, but I don't know how many other cars we could muster in that short a time.

Let's move this off the OFF TOPIC forum. John, why don't you post an UPCOMING EVENTS entry and zee how many Clubbies might be interested in doing this?

Wanna shoot for the following Sat, 19Aug? We'll ask Ross to come along and bring his weather wand.
