Back in the day American car companies released Concept cars almost yearly. While few of them actually hit the road, we frequently saw design elements which eventually morphed into actual road cars. Looking at these concepts you may recognize designs from cars you actually saw (or drove?). My AutoMech class actually studied the Chrysler Turbine car @05:23 (which would run on peanut oil or alcohol or lighter fluid or anything else flammable) which we were sure would be the car of the future. It was a thrill to have adult professional mechanics teaching us kids about the technical aspects of such cars, in anticipation of releasing us to actually repair them during our lifetimes.

Most of these cars were totally impractical, especially the vast greenhouses which would have literally cooked the occupants and been impossible to keep clean and the pointy "cow catcher" fenders and grilles which would have skewered any pedestrians.

Just a fun video for anyone who grew up in The Chrome Age.

Sorry about the jazz, but it came with the era.
