Post subject:  Farewell, Casey Kasem

America's favorite radio voice has died.

For as long as we have had Z cars, we have had Casey Kasem on the radio, bringing us American Top 40 hits. There is no way to recount all the places I've heard Casey, but I was most thankful for him each time I was stationed overseas in Japan or Okinawa. He was a 'voice from home'. Sixty years of Americans have Casey Kasem memories.

Casey's unusually soothing voice got him into radio DJ work during his service in the Korean war, which kept him out of combat. A million homesick servicemen learned to search for his voice on Armed Forces Radio and Television Service during Korea and Nam.

His later life took some bizarre twists and turns: https://music.yahoo.com/blogs/music-new ... 46403.html
It is somehow fitting that he died on Father's Day.

Radio will now never be the same, but we will all keep our feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars because of Casey.
