haha ok ok...but plenty more to do. I have a line on earlier fenders to put on it to make it look better with the front markers. After its all put together, the windshield is coming off to prep for paint. While the fenders are off I plan on rebuilding the head for preventative maintenance. It diesels when it shuts off and has some warm start issues. Figure some nice new valves, seals, springs and cleaned up head will help out a good amount. Most likely be next summers car of choice for Jess.

Well, as long as you're in there, the compression ratio on your particular engine is critical to 'sportscar' performance. If you can have it raised a notch, you'll be far happier with the car.
The 1500 engine MG used for the Spridget was from the Triumph Spitfire. Here's some info about it:

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

In 1973 in the United States and Canada, and 1975 in the rest of the world, the 1500 engine was used to make the Spitfire 1500. Although in this final incarnation the engine was rather rougher and more prone to failure than the earlier units, torque was greatly increased by increasing the cylinder stroke to 87.5 mm (3.44 in), which made it much more drivable in traffic. The reason for the engine problems was the continued use of three main bearings for the crankshaft.
While the rest of the world saw 1500s with the compression ratio reduced to 8.0:1, the American market model was fitted with a single Zenith-Stromberg carburettor and a compression ratio reduced to 7.5:1 to allow it to run on lower octane unleaded fuel, and after adding a catalytic converter and exhaust gas recirculating system, the engine only delivered 53 bhp (40 kW) with a fast 0–60 time of 14.3 seconds. The notable exception to this was the 1976 model year, where the compression ratio was raised to 9.1:1. This improvement was short-lived, however, as the ratio was again reduced to 7.5:1 for the remaining years of production.
In the UK the 9:1 compression ratio, less restrictive emissions control equipment, and the Type HS2 SU carburettors now being replaced with larger Type HS4 models, led to the most powerful variant to date. The 1500 Spitfire now produced 71 bhp (53 kW) at 5500 rpm, and produced 82 lb·ft (111 N·m) of torque at 3000 rpm. Top speed was now at the magical 100 mph (160 km/h) mark, and 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) was reached in 13.2 seconds. Fuel economy was reduced to 29mpg.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** *

So shaving your head and raising the CR up to 9:1 might give you about 80hp with that Weber.

Here's some further interesting info about your car:

rear bumpers are on too. I plan on flattening out the old bumper mount protrusions as well as lowering the plate and removing the current lights and using the chrome bumper lights for it.

Rawther nice, old chap.

The old spoked wheel versions had rounded rear wheel arches, and if you ever get really industrious, those silly mirrors look and work a whole lot better out on the 'wings' (fenders). They become a pain to adjust when you move them out there, and they have to be moved around each time another driver takes the wheel.
But they look so very much nicer out there....

So that was short lived. My wife came to me and explained how she did not see how much she would be able to use the car. We have a young daughter that needs her all the time and driving a convertible does not play well with that lifestyle. We have decided to give the car to someone who will appreciate it, drive it and love it.

My mom.

A 1967 MG Midget was her first car. Her enthusiasm towards that car (and my dads towards Opel GT's) most likely triggered my love for Z's. My moms husband is a car guy as well. He is taking the car to be worked on and get it to tip top shape for my moms birthday.

So regardless of the change of hands, its going to a great person who deserves it and will love it.

She even has the original wood shift knob from her old car as a keepsake that will find itself on her new car.

So my gift has backfired again. My mother can't accept the car at this time so I am going to sell to help with my losing my job. I'll post in the classifieds. Anyone interested or knows anyone interested please send them my way.

Selling a Spridget in the Spring/Summer is easy. Everyone wants one. How much would you be asking?
