I bought this for my wife. New project begins!

I bought this car for my wife as a summer toy car to fix up and enjoy on summer days. My daughter has been very sick and my wife has stayed by her side day in and out at the hospital. Thankfully our daughter is doing a little better now. I wanted to surprise her with a present for being such an amazing woman/mother.

And this is it. A 75 MG Midget in "Decent" shape. Paid around $1k for it.

It needs: Radiator, paint, some wiring gremlins figured out.

Came with chrome bumpers to do a conversion from the rubber bumpers. The passenger side fender is showing some cancer so I figured this is a good time to get the earlier fenders to do the conversion.

The end goal:

Seth!!! What a nice guy you are! Jess should love this little bug when you get it sorted. (Really good price, too).

These are great fun. I drove one for awhile in NC (while my Z was suffering from Undiagnosed Fusible Link Disorder [UFLD]) and I'll never forget it. It's the twin of the Austin Healey Sprite. The short wheelbase jolts you around a bit over bumps but you laugh all the way thru it. They are a breeze to work on and YES, install the pre-'68 bumpers on it if you can. Which size engine did you get in yours?

All electrical problems in any MG or AH are directly attributable to Lucas, the Prince of Darkness.

Thanks Frank,

Yeah it should be fun (if I can fit in it). This came with the 1.5L engine converted to a single weber carb. Runs great.

Part of the deal:

 You got a 1500 engine with a WEBER, and $800 worth of bumpers for $1000? Was the car stolen or is the guy divorcing??

was selling for $ to pay for medical expenses. I felt really bad buying it, but hopefully the money will come in helpful to him.

Well, the Weber and the chrome bumpers are worth $1,000 alone. You got the car for free.

Gee, you even got a $400 woodrimmed wheel with it.

NOW I'm starting to get jealous.

Is that a Moto-Lita?

Who wouldn't love to have one of these to bug around in?
The one I drove belonged to a relative of NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle, and it was his 'spare' car. When my Z went down, he tossed me the keys to his "Spridget" (Sprite/Midget) for a few weeks.
The starter was dying on it; he kept a ball peen hammer behind the seats and I had to whack the starter once or twice each time I wanted to start it. A bit of a pain doing that in the rain. Like yours, the Lucas electrical systems barely worked (Q: "Why do the Brits drink warm beer?" A: "Lucas refrigerators"). That included the defroster, which took exactly as much time to begin working as it took me to reach my destination. Until then I carried a towel to wipe the inside of the windscreen with. Mine had three wipers outside which had their own agenda, too. And the radio would begin searching for other channels on its own. But all in all, it was great fun to drive and a hoot to throw into tight corners and stop RIGHT NOW, and it could run 0-60 in a single afternoon.
I sort of miss it sometimes.

It is one of the few cars in the world which can make a Sunbeam Alpine look "big" or "clumsy".
