Are you talking about me, Frank?-- are you alluding to one of those
nuts who jumps out of a perfectly good aircraft and when he hits the
ground, starts shooting everything that moves (except his comrades)?

Actually, I have such a fear of flying in an airplane that I have
jumped out of them most of the time. The remaining times, I
had a mind to, but reconsidered because of too high an altitude,
too little oxygen, and no parachute. So sometimes I am sane.

Adam, and you other guys who have had injuries, what can I say.
You should have counseled with me first, and I would have advised
you against doing that!!

~Rick~

I couldn't imagine jumping out of a perfectly running air plane.

I visited the surgeon yesterday and he confirmed what I was expecting. I will be having surgery on Thursday. They will be putting in a plate with screws to repair the fibula. Once that is fixed they will then apply pressure to the inside if the tibia and if it moves to much and leaves a gap at the joint they will put a screw through that. That screw will have to be removed once it heals. Downfall to that scenario is that I will be in a cast for 3 months. 6 to 8 weeks if they don't.

Surgery went well. The surgeon did end up having to put the extra screw through both bones so I will be in a cast for an extra month. He told me right before I went in that due to the dislocation there might be a lot of micro burst fractures which he can't perform surgery on. If that was the case then all of the fixation would have been external! I am so glad that wasn't the case. I am in the hospital for the night and will go home in the am. Hopefully sooner than later.

I got home from the hospital around 4. What a church fair (my grandfather's term to use instead of cluster f**k) to get discharged no wonder why they are losing money there. I am in so much pain I can't even describe. I don't want to complain about it because what Frank has described in previous postings. The pain medications help but I don't want to over do it because it just makes me want to sleep. Seems like the pain I am having is coming from the incision site. I am sure it will get better in the next couple days.

Once again thanks for all the well wishes. It really makes me feel good to have so much support from all of you guys.

Saw the surgeon today. Had the stitches removed and a cast put on. There is still a lot of swelling so I have to keep my leg elevated. Might be out of work for another 4 weeks.
