Can you think of a safer place for one of a kind collector automobiles to be stored than in a museum? Climate controlled, well secured, checked on daily, little or no usage. And a sink hole develops and gobbles them up?! You can't make this stuff up. A few of these cars are extremely rare. One of them was one of one remaining.

NOOO! That's horrible.

The 1962 is my favorite Corvette. In fact, it's the only one I really like.

I find it interesting that America's favorite sportscar took 39 years to sell 1,000,000 units (1953-1992). Our Zs took only 20 yrs ~ less time than any other sportscar in automotive history.

I saw a short clip of it in a newscast, but it didn't show much more
than a big hole surrounded by a lot of debris. I couldn't identify
anything because of the camera angle and the darkness in the hole.

But the thing that struck me instantaneously is this:
There have been a LOT of sinkhole incidents lately, most notably in
the Tampa Bay area. We have Carl in Clearwater and Jimbo in
Lutz, and a couple of the incidents occurred right between them.
I had this terrible vision of either or both of their "garages" being
sucked down into a sinkhole, with the loss of numerous low-low-VIN
240Z's and of course Car's restored BRE Baja car.

I'm shaking right now just thinking about it. Of course Jimbo is an
insurance guy with his own agency, and I'm sure he is very well
covered by Hagerty. But that doesn't bring back those early, early
Z Cars and a big bunch of Z history with them!
