My sweet daughter Laura arrived in NYC this evening, 1 hour ago.
She will stay in Stamford CT for 13 months as an au pair girl. She found a nice family. She's looking forward to meet you guyz during her stay. I will visit her probably next spring.

Welcome, Laura!!! It's wonderful to have at least some of your family nearby Thor, and we hope you have many opportunities to come back here, too.

Please tell Laura to call if she needs anything! It will be good to see her again.

Frank T

Laura spent this past weekend with us. We had a great time with her. She speaks English perfectly and is very happy to have been hired to work in Connecticut where she knows our Club, rather than in some other state where she would have been a complete stranger.
We took her to The East Side German restaurant in New Britain and laughed thru most of the meal. Then we took her to FAO Schwarz in NYC so she could see America's largest, best and oldest toystore. We SKYPED Thor and talked with him awhile. We had Sushi at an excellent Japanese restaurant in Stamford and took her home. The next day her host family took her back to NYC to see her first live NFL game, where she watched our member Danny Linquist's Seattle Seahawks crush the New Yawk Giants.
This was Laura's first weekend off-duty. She hopes to get away more often as time permits. When the Zeason begins again, we must have her attend our meetings. What I like best about her is that she eats everything on her plate and is interested in many foods. She's easy to feed!
She is astoundingly smart, plays piano and guitar, has a professionally-trained voice and an excellent ear. But she's the first and only German I've ever met who cannot stand beer!

Thor, you've raised a good girl!

Frank

Y'all say hi to her ~ she reads this website!

File comment: Laura is happy to be working here in CT for a year and hopes to spend some of her free time with us.

Welcome, Laura! Hope Frank and his family have been treating you well so far (obviously they have) :)

I've never been to the East Side restaurant, but it's a favorite of my uncle's and it's supposedly very good. I believe they even have live music (of sorts) there too, right?

Anyhow, it's nice to have you here - perhaps we'll see you (and your father) at an upcoming Z club meet :D

(...and do I spy a 2+2 XKE model sitting up there with the Z's?)

Uncle Frank,
Once again you have gone above and beyond. You are the man!
It must make Thor feel at ease knowing there are ZClub members ready and willing. We've been to the East Side Restaurant a few times. Always had a great meal and fun as well.
Merry Christmas and happy New Year to you and yours.
Alan

ps: Ticky tacky, ticky tacky, hoy, hoy, hoy!

 Haha!
That cracked Laura up! She asked me why we say "tick tocky", when in Germany they say something else (I forget). Anyway, every time they yelled that at East Side, she turned red and burst out laughing.

Anybody has any time to get together and take her to lunch or some fun local family function she might enjoy, she's always happy to get a break. We will entertain her as often as we can, of course, but the whole Z Club is her American family.

Frank
