So I'm guessing everyone's favorite car they've owned is a Z, but what about a car that's not a Z? Curious to see what other cars people have owned that they loved.

Mine was a 91 Eclipse GSX awd turbo, the only non Nissan that I owned, absolutely loved it! Spent a lot of $$ and hours on that car only to have the electrical system fry...was fun while it lasted

I've owned over 100 cars, so it's not e-Z to select ONE 'non-Z' favorite. But I can whittle it down to two.

Throughout high school I owned a series of Austin Healey 100-4s, sometimes owning two at the same time. They were great fun and actually did match the XK-120 for performance (what they were designed to do in the first place) if you knew how to fix everything and didn't mind having the outside weather inside with you. I owned 1954, '55 and '56 BN-1 and BN-2 Healey Hundreds.

I also owned a 1969 Dodge Charger 383. It was a real tooth-puller; 0-60 in under 6 seconds with the whole family aboard, if you could stand the G forces and screaming from the passengers. 290HP stock, 340HP after it flashed-back thru the carb, caught fire and was rebuilt.

No actual photos at hand as I write this, so file photos will have to do.

Up until these recent years, I only drove Z's, but would have a winter beater, so those didn't really count. So keeping it Japanese............the 94 Acura legend Coupe Type 2 was quite a ride, but hi miles and imperfect body work, I was able to let it go and decided to move UP to Lexus and give that a try. My new Lexus LS400 has defiantly impressed me. V8 with unbelievable gas mileage, better than the Acura. Air ride suspension with adjustable height, can hold a lot of weight and stays the same height. Just finished over a thousand miles of driving and the body feels good today. So now that I have no more ZX, this has been my new venture to luxury rides. I am now convinced, and would only buy a Lexus from here on. I think the next one will be the GS400 (2000 model,) but for now will enjoy my 21 year old Lexus that rides like a dream. To the other cars show.....Awesome  :D

I'll play.

I used to have a 1989 Porsche 928 S4 5-speed that was an awesome car to drive and in my opinion to look at too. I'll get another someday, but I'd like to build an old longnose 911 similar to what Magnus Walker does first.

I also had a 1967 Mustang Fastback that I restored to a Shelby GT350 clone. Since I was a kid 67-68 Fastbacks were my favorite car. If I ever do another I'll do a Bullitt replica, but in black instead. Getting the fiberglass to fit right was incredibly hard and the main reason to do a Bullitt instead. Whoever makes that stuff should be shot.

At the current owners home and well taken car of.

This is how the car looked when I bought it about 15 years ago. I only paid 1500 for this heap of rusty metal. It's crazy, but cars in this condition are selling for a lot more now.

The most beautiful rear end in the car world to me.

My car right before I sold it a few years ago. Sad day, but I sold it to get my Datsun back. Funny, because originally I sold the Z to get the Porsche.

All the cars I've owned and like have a tie to someone I know having one when I was young. The 240z is the only one that doesn't. The first time I saw one I was smitten.

My favorite was a 1970 dodge challenger r/t. Shaker scoop,4:10 factory locked rear end. 4 spd pistol grip shifter. Originally a 440 6 pack that I replaced with a 1965 413 wedge from a wrecked Chrysler crown imperial limo. It had two 4 barrels off set. My uncle built the motor. It was rated at 850 horsepower and in 1976 turned a 10 second 1/4 mile at bandmires speedway in Denver. It had 16 inch wide mickey thompsons on the back with ladder bars. I drove it in over 400 drag races and never got beat. It was clocked at 168 mph and not topped out. I drove it to work everyday until one Sat. night I was sitting at a green light waiting to turn and was t-boned by an extremely drunk driver in a dodge 4wd truck with a cabover camper doing 105 mph. the police where chasing him and knew exactly what speed he hit me. The nitro methane we used to run in the gas tank helped burn the car to the ground. I still miss seeing the sky when I hit 2nd gear. Aww memories of my youth.

And THAT's when they started calling you Wild Bill. 8)

Here's a picture of the old 413 dual quad cross-ram engine, but they also made one which looked like the later 426 (shorter manifold). Which one did you have?

Rob, my sister was given a 1967 fastback 289 A/T as her first car when a family friend became too blind to drive it. She kept and cherished it as her daily driver for many years. One day on the NYS Thruway, a truck dropped a rock directly into her grille, perfectly punching out the little Mustang pony in the rectangle corral. No damage to the radiator ~ just the horse was missing.

She sold the car the following week for TWO HUNDRED dollars, claiming the loss of the pony spoiled the car for her.
