The original cast of the 1966 BATMAN TV show reunited for the press recently:

I had SUCH a crush on Julie Newmar (cat woman) and wanted her as my own. Best that things turned out differently, I guess.

"Holy moly, Batman" Lest we forget the badguys. The heros in this series could have been any actor but the others: Burgess Meredith,
Frank Gorshin, Cesar Romero and the super Eartha Kitt were the old pros in the cast.
Can anyone out there laugh like the Riddler?

I've wanted a batmobile for a long time. And maybe a batboat.

People would never leave you alone if you owned it, Mark.
You'd have constant requests from parades, car shows, benefit drives, police pursuits, and even bank job gettaways. They'd never leave you alone.

But you could disconnect your phone ~ people would start calling you by shining BAT shadows on the clouds. 8)

Evidently the Batman series was the show to be in during the mid 60's.
Actors such as: Eli Wallach, George Sanders, Otto Premenger (all Mr. Freeze), Vincent Price as Egghead, Victor Buono as King Tut, Bryon Keith as Mayor of Gotham, and another beauty named Lee Meriweather also played Catwoman.
The list of cameo appearances is extensive.

Ain't wikipedia wonderful!!

A local state assemblyman here in the Rochester area, who is also a member of one of our brother car clubs here, owns a PERFECT recreation of the 1960s Batmobile. Everything is correct, right down to the batphone and Bat-U-Turn lever.

Plans are underway to make his Batmobile a featured car at ZCCR's car show next July!

HOLY RETRO BATMAN!

Well, there ya' go, Mark! You're right out there in that area now, too!
Why not go introduce yrslf and make him an offer? If you have a pair of green tights and a Robin mask laying around, you might make a bigger impression on him. (And plz check and zee if he has a Bat Pole in his office).

Frank

I wasn't paying much attention to this thread till the mention of
LEE ANN MERIWETHER. You might recall she was a Miss America
from Mississippi back in the late '50's. (I used to dream a lot.)

And Lee Meriwether only played Catwoman in the Batman MOVIE that was supposed to be released theatrically in the summer of 1966, BEFORE the series hit the air that fall. Didn't work out that way and the movie was released in 1967, after the series had been on the air for a year.

Julie Newmar played Catwoman in the first two seasons, Ertha Kitt took the role in the final season 3.

And speaking of Lee Meriwether, she went on to star in one of my all time favorite TV series, "THE TIME TUNNEL" (1966-67).

A mind is a terrible thing to stuff with useless facts.....

I met Ertha Kitt a couple of times a few years ago. Unfortunately she has since passed away. You could still tell it was her and believe it or not even at her age she still kept her figure. And no mistaking the voice. Jim
