The first 3 attacks this year against those evil slimy striper's landed with no solid hits, a lot went across the bows, but no direct hits. One pole was broken, but soon replaced, and got some new artillery today, and prepped for the next assault at sunrise tomorrow.

This is war.......

Kayak War's........ :twisted:

if this is war, then you need to use hand grenades.

I think I want to....

lots of boat on the river today, nobody but one guy was catching the fish. Just one guy...I watched him land about 30 fish, all sizes. So I moseyed my kayak near him, and started to toss a jig around....and about 30 minutes later, I got a bite. The other guy was just pulling his in, a flick of his real...and they were just sliding to his boat like they were on a buttered up rail. No, my fish took a lot of my line out, I tightened the drag more, and finally got the line to where I could real it in.

I started to notice something....my fish was fighting. more fight than the other guys fish. So much fight, that my kayak was being pulled. After a 2 minute struggle, the fish was just about to come into my view, and then when it saw the kayak...it ran again...and this time it spit out the hook.

Where do I find these grenades?

I have a loaner spindle pin puller that you could use to make that a "keeper"

If I did not know better, I would have thought this was written by my son, . He spends a lot of time in the warmer months fishing off the coast in his kayak. Check out his facebook page. Patrick Dempsey
This link might get you there

He is about to make the shift from snowboard to kayak. Tell him I suggested it.

I went too many times this week, I was exhausted, and had to take a night off from work. But prepped again for today.

Yesterday, I was on the water from about 7:30-4:30...had nothing, then I was just messing around, and got a keeper. I brought him up to side of the yak to grab him, and once his head was out of the water, the 2 year old 5lb fishing line snapped. He was about 30 inches, and didn't even put up a fight. He got two fat earthworms for lunch.

So I put fresh line on the rod, played around some with setting up some lures, went and got a frozen box of squid, some beef heart cubes, beef livers, and a pack of live mussels. Charged the fish finder battery, and I will go to work early tonight so I can get out of work early tomorrow. The next attack should start right around pre-dawn...and last all day. The moon will be the closest, so hopefully it will drag them up to get hooked.

big fish for tomorrow morning...

today's battle...

it ended up a stalemate.

me=0
fish=0

I found out, there is no hook-able meat in mussels, striper's don't like beef, wind over 20 mph, casting lures and jigs is useless.

I snagged a huge catfish on the liver, but it was entangled with a branch, and my setup popped out of his mouth. It had a decent lunch. I saw a smile from the fish as he was on top of the water 20 meters away with the liver in his mouth when the hook shot past my head.

So I armed myself for tomorrow....sandworms and night crawlers, more new fishing line, and some fly's......

The battle will continue until I get these darn points for the kayak wars. Hopefully the weather turns to my favor.

I don't think you're giving the fish enough credit. Looks like the ichthyoids have a crushing lead in this battle!
