Except for the depressing grey sky, that picture could be a 'light snow' day in parts of Connecticut this year.

We have parts of the USA where the sun refuses to shine for weeks at a time during fall/winter. People there have serious problems with depression.

Various native American Indian tribes described winter as the Death Season (in their own tongues). Many of the fur-bearing animals in North America hibernate all winter long ~ I think they're smarter than we are. :?

Following many moons of bitter fighting under morale-crushing hand-to-hand conditions, we are finally able to issue this positive Situation Report from the Forward Edge of the Battle Area.

The enemy has been steadily retreating over the past two weeks, and resistance has become sporadic, disorganiZed and ineffective. Enemy forces, once powerful enough to disrupt supply lines, crush structures and cripple transportation, have been reduced to manageable siZes.

Current sweeps within the entire perimeter and reconnaissance of all areas visible from this post report only a single-pocket holdout of enemy resistance.

The current commander (me) of this Tactical Area of Responsibility has decided not (repeat not) to take action against this sole-remaining outpost. In the spirit of the WWII Allies in the Pacific "Island-Hopping" campaigns, this isolated remnant of the once-mighty enemy will be allowed to dwindle and dissolve slowly. Reinforcements and resupply are not expected and, altho disturbingly close to the driveway, the enemy is now small enough to pose no immediate threat to daily operations.

Below is a photo of the current state of the enemy forces within my T.A.O.R., taken by our Recon forces this morning.

Tactical updates will be issued if the situation changes.

Frank

(PS ~ It is with pride that this command reports the successful fight against this foe did NOT cause us to resort to chemical warfare. No salt was used to overcome the enemy and complete our mission).
