Thnx. Wild Bill. I wonder how long he's had this posted for sale? Couldn't be very long, judging by the high bid so far....

Frank

It turned up Friday morning. Appears to need a mega ton of work to get it right. No pictures of the interior, not surprising since it has been stored outside for most of its life. I'm sure it is shot, including all of the correct "69" bits.

Also, his "story" is quite the tall tale, and totally WRONG. Dealers did not get "mule test cars", nor were the first boatload of 20 "test mules". Makes for good ad copy I guess.

Someone will pay dearly for the VIN on the firewall. I'd guess a $30-$40k restoration to get it right......

Well another club member also spotted this and has posted it in the for sale area. Yeah I've been in this club for only a little over a year and even I know that his story doesn't make sense but you can't blame the owner only the source where he got his information.

I agree his description is way off and is more tall tale than not. The bid when I first saw it was at $600 now it's twice that and the reserve hasn't been met.Even though it is a really early vin it is in rough enough shape not to warrant a very high reserve. I quess will see how serious the guy is about selling it. It would be nice if he would let someone who will restore it get it cheap enough to make it work.
What would be really great is if he found a really good Z car club  and donated it to them in the interests of seeing it saved. Then they copuld work together as a club project and restore it and take it to shows with a nice little plaque with his name on it thanking him for his part in saving it. But that's just me dreaming!

YEAH! We could work on it together in our Dream Garage. 8)

Very knowledgeable people, who know the prices of 1969 Z partz, estimate the restoration of such a car to *probably* be in the $30-40,000 range.

It would have been far less if the car had not been left outside all those years. Look at #13 ~ stored for 30yrs in dry, hermetically sealed (well, almost) conditions. The underside looks 5 yrs old, not 40.

so this guy might have been pumped up with a lot of false info to make him think this Z in this condition is worth that much.

Or he could have purposely set the reserve ridiculously high with no intention of selling it, just to see how much people were willing to pay.
