Just a fun look over our collective shoulders ~

About 3 years ago (Sep07), the following entry was made when RageFear found the CTZCC website and signed-on as a Guest to ask if anyone still lived here. He commented that there 'wasn't too much activity' on our website. :( That was true then. We only had about two doZen carz signed up for the Fall Outing!

Ross responds with his ever-present warm welcome, and assures Rage that he (Ross) intends to push for more web use in the near future.

WEELLLLLLLL! Always a man of his word, Ross certainly did THAT!

Less than 3 full years later, the CTZCC website has EXPLODED into a minute-to-minute discussion vehicle (almost a BlogZite!) which ties more than 450 happy members together!

During the month of RageFear's old entry, the CTZCC website had 881 hits.
Last month the site averaged more than TWICE that number EVERY DAY!

Nice work, Ross ~ you've created the best Z Car Club I've ever zeen!

Frank

Thanks Frank. It is hard to believe that this little club has come so far. I received an e-mail today from a gentlemen in Mass who wants to start a Z club near Boston. He asked for some advice, which I plan to send him soon. The biggest piece of advice I will give him is that the organizaiton is only as good as its core team. Without Jim, Frank, Phil, Keith and Bryan (in order of becoming an officer - I think), this club would still be a nice little association of probably 50 people!

In my humble opinion, we have the best group of leaders of any volunteer organization I have seen. We all know what our roles are and work well together as a team. In addition, we have countless other members who step up to work at events or donate their skills. There are too many of these people to name but we all know who they are.

It's a great time to own a Z in CT!!

My recommendation would be to make sure his members MEET EACH OTHER regularly, and get to exchange info and advice about their Zs!

I consider our Club's success to stem from the fact that we all KNOW EACH OTHER and have become friends.

Don't get me wrong, there are some really good Z sites on the internet, with hundreds (or thousands) of 'members' exchanging ideas. But very few of them know each other or have ever met. That makes it hard to establish personal respect or admiration for each other, which can lead to verbal abuse on the websites, and THAT leads to hard feelings and a loss of members.

This is a real Club, full of members who know each other and interact both on and off screen. I suspect most other Z clubs are purely internet based and few of their members actually get to meet.

Certainly the Rochester and NY Z Car Clubs are exceptions to that. They both started small and grew up with their members meeting routinely and getting to know each other. They are focused on a membership which lives within a reasonable radius, so they can get to become friends.

Some other clubs, in bigger states, would have trouble gathering members from all corners of their area (picture NY, PA, NJ, GA, or TX!) to make meetings or events. We here in dinky little CT are really fortunate to have so many Z owners in a small enough area that we can easily get together once or twice a month.

Boston might fit right into that convenient pattern, if they started small and let themselves grow slowly.

REMEMBER ROSS? This whole thing started with you and Al Brown meeting for coffee one morning a month!

Frank

What a Great story. To hear what humble beginnings this great club had and how far it has gone. But you guys who meet regularly are to be commended for welcoming guys as far away as me and then making me feel like a real part of the club. When I say you guys are truly a Great bunch I mean it.
One of my goals is now to someday make the trip to Ct. and attend a meeting and an outing. And when my life is on an even keel again I will do just that.
Imagine the smile on my face when I get to stroll into a club meeting! :D

Oh, how cool would THAT be??? :D

We've had distant members visit our meetings and events from Washington State (Danny), Georgia (Vince) and Germany (Thor and family). That's not even mentioning our members from NY, NJ, NH, VT, RI and MA, who we get to zee on a semi-regular basis.

It would be a joyous honor indeed Bill, to introduce you as you walked thru the door!
