No Zs included in this, so it doesn't rate a spot under our FOR SALE forum.

But our Chicago member Tengu wanted us to know about this link for those idle minutes when we are 'big game hunting' from our easy chair:

http://www.dezercollection.com/inventor ... y=&d=backw

The offerings start out a bit bland, but get warmer on the second page. Some of these are downright alluring! :D

You're right, Frank, page 2 is the better of the two.

That Sabra has a lot of lines that are reminiscent of a 240-Z, doesn't it?
BTW in Hebrew, a Sabra is a native-born Israelite. FWIW

And the BMW Isetta is my all-time favorite minicar. I remember the
first time I ever saw one-- I think it was 1957. My Dad and I were going
to the Plaza to shop for something, and enroute, one entered traffic
immediately ahead of us. I was stunned; I had thought a Bug was tiny.
Well, we followed it for about 5 miles and don't you know, it also turned
into the Plaza. About 300' in, I saw a parking space along the curb, about
one-half the length of a regular car. I told Dad, "Don't pass him, I bet he
is going to park right there." I expected him to park it in the usual way,
by backing into the space. WRONG!!!!!! Was I ever stunned when he did
a 90-degree turn to the right, drove it into the space FORWARD, opened
the FRONT (literal) door, and walked right out onto the curb.

That was 53 or more years ago and I can still see it happening before
my eyes to this very day. I can even tell you it was a yellow Isetta.

BTW BMW also made an unbelievably good motorcycle, which along with
the Zundapp, an equally hardy bike, were used by the German ground
forces in WWII. Mainly for reconnaissance and courier missions. The
Zundapp was used more in Europe, but the BMW was the choice in North
Africa because of its enclosed drive shaft. Any bike with a chain drive
would have had its exposed chain and gears eaten up by the desert sand
in no time.

You're singing to the Choir, Rick. This was my 1961 R59 BMW while I was in the Corps, before I left for Nam. One month before I TransPac'd, I rode it to the BMW dealer in Savannah GA (one of only 3 Bimmer shops in the TriState region) and told the solitary owner/worker/mechanic to 'fix it up the way you would want it if it was yours. When I come back ~ IF I come back ~ I'll pay you whatever you ask. If I don't come back, the bike is yours, so do it right'.

He sure was sorry to see me walk back thru that door 15 months later. That bike had been totally transfigured, and would beat any Limey bike on the road, in any category. It was the best bike I ever owned, and I keep my eye open for another like it.

Ask me for details someday.

Frank

You DO wants one! They are terrific machines and they make you wish for endless miles of open backroads to explore.

Very much like a Z! :D
