Another oddball subject!

We discuss so many technical subjects on these Forums, talking about how to repair or improve our Z carz ~ but what about when they're running perfectly and it's time to enjoy them???

Picture this ~
Your Z is running PERFECTLY. Nothing remains to be done to it  (suuurrrre!). The sun is out, the hiway is wide and flat, and traffic is light. You just passed ALL the state cops at the last Donut shop a mile ago. You have 200 miles to go and your tank is full. Your tires, brakes and shocks are all new, and the car WANTS to gallop.

WHAT's THE BEST SONG YOU CAN BLAST ON YOUR SOUND SYSTEM TO HELP GET YOU DOWN THE ROAD???

The first ones that come to my mind are these, in no particular order (shuffle!)

Guitar Town (Steve Earle)
Ride of the Valkyrie (Wagner)
William Tell Overture, Storm and Cavalry movements (Rossini)
In the Hall of the Mountain King (Grieg)
Magic Carpet Ride (Steppenwolf)
Born to Run (Emmylou Harris)
Gonna Make You Sweat ("Everybody Dance Now") (C&C Music Factory)
Rockin' Rollin' Reelin' Feelin' (Over Me)(Segarini & Bishop)
Late in the Evening (Paul Simon)
Teach Your Children (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young)
The Boxer (Simon & Garfunkle)
Foggy Mountain Breakdown (Flatt & Scruggs)
My Sharona (The Knack)
I wanna Kiss you all over ('Till the night closes in) (Exile)
(I can't Get no) Satisfaction (Stones)
Hot Blooded (Foreigner)
And had to add More than a Feelin' (Boston)

And yours are.....?

When I was doing autocross, I'd try my best to have this song ready to play when I got up to the start line, and have the flag waved to go at 40 seconds in this vid....

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 7763217109

And at the 40 second mark in that vid...that's when I gun the hell out of the car....and the after effect is a rush.....

plus the 8 cups of coffee before the first run also helped.

at first, I just liked the beat of the song...and the tempo really fits the autocross lap...

Then I googled the lyrics..

and it was very fitting...

One by one, from south to north, together with the rows of cherry blossoms
In the explosion of weapons that sounds out, is the best kind of good feeling
As the wind is roused, cutting across, I've got a hold of the laurels in the end
The most serious things are intuition and an exhilarating feeling of a kaboom
What's more, everyone goes directly to the top, turbulence plays around with everything
Your cells are cleansed, brainwashed in an orange color

When I hear it once, it won't leave me; round and round, round and round
The stage will explode in 3 seconds; 3-2-1, round and round
Round and round, round and round
Round and round, round and round, enchanted, enchanted
Cells collapse with a kaboom, orange brainwashes with a kaboom

Waving, a rolled up typhoon; a straight pitch thrown from the Ryuukyuus
The Chanpuruu method, crushed common sense, the end of usurping, a first-rate wind

Destruction of rusted together cells, a huge amount of reverse adrenaline
Feeling the group groove in your body; pleasant feelings are had, so a sense of unity

The hurricane that's been awoken won't stop; the fighting spirit that's been provoked won't hesitate
The tempo rises, the whole nation is brainwashed; yo, the words that are spit out awaken a change

Round and round
Round and round

My favorite song is "VG30E" by Nissan, off their 1987 album.

Now this just might help my power point. I need about 3 songs. So I'll show this to my cousin tonight and see what he has in his 4000 song library. :D

Oooohhhh! The chorus for Final Countdown runs thru my head for weeks at a time, several times each year! I can't seem to get rid of it! Now I'll start thinking about it again! Aarrrggghh!

Guess I'm the oddball. I settle for the theme songs of the Glenn Beck,
Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin shows. That's why the
original AM-only monaural radio from a '69-'71 Z is good enough for me.

"Muskrat Love" or "Your havin' my baby".

LOL, I just couldn't resist listing two of the worst songs that were ever written during the 70's. :D

Too many to list and it depends on the day...anything from Johnny Cash to the Clash for me. No R&B or Rap(Except for a few guilty pleasures) I just don't feel these.

Mostly Alt.Country these days (Jay Farrar, Son Volt, Blue Mountain, Drive by Truckers, The Silos, etc).

symphony No 1 - gustav mahler
all the piano solos of oscar peterson
the "Cologne Concert" - Keith Jarrett
