Post subject:  Ken Block is dead

Rallye and stunt driver Ken Block has been killed in a snowmobile accident. He was 55 years old and leaves a wife and family. We have watched in amaZement here on this website as Ken threw his 600bhp Monster, Hoonigan, or DC Shoes Ralley cars around obstacles and buildings at high speed, often drifting his car around "volunteer" (?) helpers who stood stock still as the nose of Ken's speeding car drifted around their knees. Ken's gymkhana car films grew increasingly hairy, and we have several of them here on the CTZCC website.

Twice Formula-1 Grand Prix world racing champion Graham Hill was killed in a private plane crash after retiring from driving.
Nine-time World motorcycle racing champion Mike Hailwood was killed by a delivery truck while driving his kids home from shopping after retirement.
WWII US Army hero General George Patton was killed in a traffic accident after the last shot of WWII had been fired.
Marine Major General Marion Carl, veteran of 35 years of horrible combat in WWII, Korea and Vietnam, was killed in his home at age 82 when a burglar shot him and his wife after 25 years of peaceful retirement.

The world is not a safe place to live in.

Further details might be forthcoming.

Ken was unique, he had a special skill set when it came to driving.

He threw his cars around obstacles in a way that at times almost defied the laws of physics. Ken made the extreme stunts and maneuvers he did look easy....effortless, which I think highlights the level of focus, poise, and control he had at the wheel of his race cars. There aren't many who play at that level.

He was one hell of a driver.
