I know that they are rare and in demand, but I doubt they are worth what this guy is looking for:

$400-$500 I can see someone paying just because you know. 2400 covers are $200 - $250 all day long. $3000 for a BSR cover is crazy and I feel he will be holding on to that for a long time.

I just want one that says Datsun. I think the older first ones? Would go well with my Elephant Cap.

There weren't any from the factory that said just "Datsun", some JDM covers had simply "Nissan" on them and were more squared at the edges. There may be some aftermarket covers for tge covers that say "Powered by Datsun", I've seen them on the internet.

And contrary to popular belief, the "elephant" oil cap is NOT the rare cap. The one that has simply "OIL" on it is far more rare and scarce.

Maybe I'm thinkin something different now, maybe it's the one that says 2400 on it??? I know my elephant isn't rare, but just cool. I'll keep my eye out for ones that say Oil. That rings a bell now.

 Right Phil!!! The 710 cap.
Why not tell that joke for the new guyz who maybe haven't heard it yet?

(By the way, Paul, those elephant caps come out looking really sharp if you pressure wash them. Never sandblast them, tho!)

The covers that had "NISSAN 2400 OHC" were on the first 9000 or so 240zs. In August 1970 they went to simply "NISSAN OHC" covers which lasted through 1983. The 2400 covers are scarce and valuable today.

The early JDM Fairlady Z had a 2000 cc 6 cyl. engine that had "NISSAN 2000 OHC" valve cover. Extremely rare today.

Gee, I polished two of those and gave them away for free! One went to a Club member who was in need and the other was raffled off at our CTZCC Annual Fall Picnic a few years back.

Costs about $75 each to get them polished up around here, and they gleam like chrome for years after. Today I have a spare black anodized 2400 cover which is standing watch in my garage.

So i guess i have the "rare" oil cap, but can you guys tell me about when did o-ring groove arrive to valve covers? I have one with elephant cap and no o-ring and one OIL cap with o-ring on valve cover... :?:

The 2400 cover is worth about $250-$300 today.
