Okay, here's the deal. I guess most of you have heard the news
that I am buying #01905 from Clive. She was a very nice car to
begin with; Frank and I saw her right after Clive bought her, and
of course we launched right into pleading with Clive not to cut her
up and make another Evil Z hot rod out of her.

Clive had some body work done at a shop in NC, and so now the
car is even better than when Frank and I first saw her. But she is
no longer #901 silver, but primer. WHAT DO YOU MEAN, "THAT'S
TOO BAD?" THAT'S GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!-------Here's why:

Y'all have heard me describe, numerous times, how one could not
"special order" a particular color on his/her Z Car purchase back in
the day (about 1969-1972). You signed your purchase agreement,
wrote a check for a $200 deposit, were added to a (sometimes very
long) waiting list, and tried your best to be patient for the next few
months. Then finally, the long-awaited telephone call came, noti-
fying you that your name had ascended to the top of the waiting
list and that YOUR car had arrived on the truck. As you SPED to the
dealership to claim your prize, you HOPED that it would be in one of
your favorite colors and not one of THOSE...........

I didn't get my preferred color in 1970; but that was largely due to
some VERY unusual circumstances, which some of you have heard
me describe, more than sheer bad luck.

NOW, over 40 years later, my car, WITH FIRST CHOICE OF COLOR,
has finally arrived. I have always liked YELLOW cars, and now I can
get my 1970 Datsun 240Z in #919 Sunshine Yellow. I don't know
how far back paint formulas go, but there are two or three others I
have seen over the years that are awfully close, and also very nice:
Code 51 yellow on a 1970s Corvette; and more recently, I have
seen nice yellows on Porsches, Bugs, and Mustangs. In other words,
a nice LEMON yellow, not a yellow which hints of orange-yellow like
the "yellow" line down the center of the road, or on a school bus, or
on a highway sign. EDIT: If you can visualiZe a CANARY yellow,
that would also be in the desired range I'm looking for.

IF I WANT ORANGE, I'LL ASK FOR ORANGE, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

BTW will someone please help me track down the paint code numbers
and/or names of the yellow on a Porsche, VW, or Mustang in case I
have to (or choose to) go that route? Sure would appreciate it........

Thanks for the suggestion, Frank; not being one I see go me by every
day, nor every month for that matter, I hadn't thought of that one :!: :!:

That definitely falls into the range of Lemon Yellow or Canary Yellow.....

Excuse me for a moment while I wipe the saliva off the keyboard.........

The yellow on the Ferrari and the Smiley, and of course on the Z,
are about what I'm looking for; good catch! Wish you could have
included the Bug, the Corvette, and the Mustang so the viewers could
have seen those also.

But that particular Porsche, well, that's getting too much into the
"orangey" end of the yellow spectrum. I've seen that one, but
Porsche also had another yellow which was a "yellowier yellow" than
that, which was the one I had had in mind.
