From where you shot the pictures, I don't zee any mistakes! It all looks very well done from here. If I thought you would do that well on MY car, I'd hire you!

Will you rechrome the bumpers or buy new ones or what?

Frank

I was thinking more like a candy tangerine, which was a pretty popular
color back in the day when George Barris, Dean what's-his-name, what's-
his-name Czerny, what's-his-name Winfield, and others were doing their
thing. As for popular, I guess "What's his-name" must have been a pretty
popular name, too.

Back to the painting of the car, I can tell that meticulous attention was
paid to the preparation. Preparation before painting is EVERYTHING.
I don't care how good the guy is with a spray gun; if the prep had any
shortcomings, it will show up in the finished product every time.

My favorite was by What's-His-Name What's-His-Name. He painted great cars.

Now you know everything I know about car painting, except to let someone else do it for you!

Happily, we have several professional car painters here in this Club, who have forgotten more about painting than most of the rest of us ever learned.

And the most-perfect, drop-dead-gorgeous paint job I've ever seen on any Z in my experience, was done by one of our members (Jim K) on another member's Z (Mike W).

Frank

Frank, I'm glad this thread got updated, as I somehow overlooked the
fact that we have, as you said, several pro car painters in this Club.

Now that I am nearing the age where one HAS to start withdrawing
from his IRA, I will need something to spend it on.

Immediately I will have #01905 to do in yellow. Then the green car will
have to be completely redone because of what somebody set on the
roof at the show, making a white ring in the finish that won't buff out
(every body shop I have contacted said they don't shoot acrylic lacquer
anymore, so they can't do a blend). That will be an insurance job under
the comprehensive provision.

The 06289 car will have to be totally repainted after some rust repair is
done, as she had to sit outside for a couple of years after my Mom
wanted her garage back so she wouldn't have to deal with the rain, snow,
or whatever. The roadster will be done in her original red, and the 510--
who knows? If Vinny makes it into a road rocket, it will have to look
special to match the performance.

I used to be pretty good with a spray gun, but it's been so long, that I
wouldn't trust myself to do my own cars.

So, anybody in the category Frank mentioned above want a few jobs?
