Better now, I lost count there, but it was all good. Well John, part of it was laziness. The stripe kit was burning a hole in my sole, and I couldn't put them on straight while on the ground, so while they were laying on the hood so I can straighten them out, the ide of putting them on the hood sprouted in my mind. I also thought that most people that drive by me don't exactly know what it is, it's kinda a low car you know. So it's a good way to advertise it. :D I also don't think I'll keep this hood on and it will be displayed in my garage, so it's more of art work. I have a 75 hood I'm going to have it vented like the one on MSA. The object is to have a cooler underhood temp so I can run A/C while sittin in traffic on a very hot day. At the moment it will overheat.

Now the hypocrite in me is going to come out.

As everybody WELL knows, I'm VERY MUCH the originalist.

But I have to give high marks to Paul for creativity; I've been around
Z Cars for 41 years now and have NEVER seen that particular application
before. I have seen ALL KINDS of stripes running along the sides
between the front and rear wheels. I have seen ALL KINDS of "racing"
stripes running up and over the length of the car: some wide, some thin,
some in combination, some offset asymmetrically to one side or the
other. I have seen stripes running from front to rear along the sides,
wherein the "trick paint" resembled a long ribbon flowing in the breeze.

But for me, this is a FIRST, and to tell you the truth, I kind of like it.

The only thing I might have done differently is to have continued the
stripes on each side of the hood up onto the cowl. Got any leftovers
from where you cut off the ends, Paul?

Maybe it's just me... but...

1) The Strip Kits were after-rmark and therefore NOT STOCK. If you show the car at Judged Events, you would lose points for adding them.

2) Strip Kits on a Classic Z Cars are like a tattoo on a beautiful woman - distracting from her beautiful body lines at best and a "Tramp Stamp" at worst.

3) If Strip Kits added beauty or additional function - Mr. Matsuo would have included them in the design to begin with - - - or BRE would have added them once they arrived here.

4) If you MUST Have something to add - then "the 240Z Sun Screen" can be added to the windshield - at least it provides some function.

Agreed - modern vinyl is superior to the original "decals" - - - but even better would be side stripes made of Static Cling Vinyl. No adhesives... easy to remove and easy to install.

Do I sound hard core?.... LOL

FWIW,
Carl B.

AGREED!!!

With the classic 240Z design, less is most definitely more. Why cover up that beautiful, classic design with clutter? I considered many different striping options when I restored my 240Z only to come to the ultimate conclusion that the car was simply beautiful as-is.

If you want the car to look more "racy", then put something under the hood, not on the body.

I'm just sayin.......
