I've previously used a chrome shop in Jersey City, NJ for certain parts on a motorcycle that I was restoring. I've always wanted to find someone closer but never could. Does anyone know of a chrome shop in CT that is not too far away from Darien?? Thanks, Ross

Thanks Pat, I called Keystone in Milford and they apparently only do bumpers. The other shop is too far away. I'll keep looking. Thanks, Ross

Keystone Automotive? In Milford? Bingo ~ that might be the answer to my front bumper problem!

Thanx both of you! I'll do a VENDOR RAVE or GRIPE when I'm done.

Well, I called Keystone and spoke with them about rechroming my front fender. Only the 35" center section needs attention, the rest is great.

They said it would take 14 weeks (FOURTEEN WEEKS) and cost $300. That's roughly $8.50 an inch. The only place they have which does their work is in Minnisota or Wisconsin, I think he said. Stuff goes to them from all over the country and is worked on first-come/first served. No way to hurry them.

I simply cant afford that, so I guess when my Z debuts it will have a black center section on the front bumper and chrome Nerf bars on either end and bumperettes.
Might look OK if I leave the grille painted silver.

For $100 I got this resolved. SUPERIOR AUTO BODY up in North Haven stripped the chrome from the center section down to bare metal, primered and painted it flat black. The Nerf Bars and uprights on either end remain good chrome so they weren't touched.

Contrasted against the silver grille, the new black bumper gives #2807 a new smile. Not as fancy as some guys' Z cars, but I like the way this looks.

We offer Chroming, Ross

Chroming is not an inexpensive process and because the state regulates who can doing chroming it is not something every shop does.

Here is a link to some product we carry

http://www.rdz300.com/Chroming.htm

You should take a look at our powdercoating as well.

Let me know what it is you are looking to chrome and I will get you a price.

Thanks,
Rich@RDZ
