One of the few parts they've brought back on the aftermarket.

Id recommend considering this if you have a useable hood to modify. Aluminum louvers for $99, they even come with the cutting templates too according to the ad. That seems like an economical way to do it.

Some V8 conversion guys simply louver the whole hood.
See if you can contact Paul in RI by Private Mail. He has lots of parts.

As you know, Club policy prevents us from sharing personal contact info of any member without their permission, except by this website.

Under FORUM (top header of this page) press MEMBERS. Go to member #60 (Paul) and press his name. That shows you all the information he wants to share publicly. If you press the PM balloon on his info page, you can write to him directly here on the website.

Frank

He told me he had two right now. I sent him the link to this conversation.
That's all I can do.
:(

Thanks Frank. He got in touch with me but was a bit more than I was looking to spend. In the meantime I found a hood that needs some repairs on the nose, but couldn't beat the price and it's rust free!

Ahh, yes. The all-vulnerable nose of the S-30. My own car was shipped deck- freight on MATSUN transportation lines from Hawaii to California in the summer of 1976.
(Yes, I shipped my Datsun on a Matsun).
Somehow something shifted during loading or transfer and pushed the peak of my car's nose in rather like that. Upon receipt I filed a claim. Matsun fell all over themselves to make things right again, telling me they would repair and replace the hood to my complete satisfaction.

The car was 901 silver and had faded over 6 years in the Hawaiian sun, so I told Matsun if they repainted the car, it would result in a 2-tone silver car. Would they consider painting all of the car together? YES! Well then, would they consider painting it a custom color, such as metal flake copper? YES! They told me to do whatever I wanted to make me happy, and just bill it to them. I got the very best body shop in Eastern NC to fix the hood, nose, deck, and fill all the body script off the car, and paint it 8 layers of hand-rubbed metal flake copper.

That was finished in Aug'76 and just melted my heart. I had the only totally-unique 240 of that color.

Less than 3 months later Datsun introduced the 1977 280Z....in metalflake copper! If you saw them parked beside each other you could tell a slight difference, but up on the highway you couldn't tell them apart.

I always told myself I was the reason the '77 280z was available in that color.

You're always up for sharing a great story Frank. Love it! I wish someone would make an aftermarket front nose clip since this is a common issue.
