Hi there- Looking for a 240z lower steering column shaft that attaches to the main steering column and steering rack. Preferably one with the U joint that uses a retaining ring rather than Peened tabs. Unfortunately mine is quite damaged. Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Rich

I'm trying hard to picture how one of those could become "quite danged" unless you drove it thru a Roadrunner cartoon and a safe fell out of the sky when you stopped on the "X". :|

I don't have one, but I'd bet Paul or Vinny has.

Please don't keep us in suspenders; tell us how yours became damaged?

Frank

Hey Frank- So I was putting in a replacement steering rack and started loosening the joint bolt to the rack... it jammed up. I wrenched a little bit harder and snapped the bolt. Unfortunately I went at a little bit too Much of an angle while drilling out the bolt and totally shot the threads badly. I guess after 50 years it wasn’t ready to dislodge haha.

I spoke with Vinny this morning. He's not sure if he has one but he will look.
Paul gets on here each weekend (usually Sunday after church) and he most likely has a half doZen of them.

I have some but might be from a 280 and I have not yet confirmed they are the same. When I do my steering up grade this winter, (no sense now since not going to zcon,) I will confirm that because I need one myself. Mine just has the slightest play, not really bad, but looks like the 280 and 240 might be the same. It would be even better if I can find just a replacement U-joint. I have a feeling they are out there somewhere.

If I go up to John T's I can transfer it to you. If you are on my route home to RI, no delivery charge. :D
