I need a MultiSwitch for an April 1970 car. Because they changed so frequently back then, only a Spring 1970 switch might work. I already know a late 1970 switch and an Aug71 switch are incompatible. I suspect only a switch from Feb/Mar/Apr/May70 would work for my car.

Thanks!

Dumb question I guess.... define what you are calling a MultiSwitch?

On my '70 car it's that stalk switch which controls the headlamps, parking lamps, and windscreen washer and wiper.

On the Z-31 it also oiled the high-speed muffler bearings, lowered the rear suspension, raised or lowered the electric mud flaps and had that nifty little pop-out Swiss Army knife multi-tool. It could also change Betty's voice into a deep Russian baritone.

Too bad. I only have the Z31 switch but it's missing the toothpick.
Curious, did you ever install the nifty headlight relay kit for your 70?

Yessir, I did that about 5yrs ago. Now I need a switch which will actually send some power to the relays.

I only have a turn signal switch.
Did you check with Vinny?

He's got my Z, trying to make my lights work. Switch is shot and needs replacement. He's trying to work with the one I have but it's a losing battle; it needs replacement. He's had no better luck than I've had finding one.
The electrical systems changed so frequently in the first two years of production, you can't really cross-fit these switches. If you try putting the wrong switch in, something goes crazy (wsw run constantly) or something doesn't work (headlamps).
This is the reaZon I have to back out of Thompson Speedway this year and missed the Scranton show.
Just another pleasure of owning these early Zs.

Frank, there's one on ebay cheap.
I know there were many variations but it may work.

Frank! Try Dave Irwin - link below. He rebuilds combo switches and turn signal swithces to better than new, for very reasonable $$. He did wonders with my turn signal switch:

Surfer: Thanks buddy, but these switches changed so frequently during the early years, I guarantee the one shown will NOT work in all the years the seller listed, which means he really doesn't know what he's talking about. He lists it as fitting all 240Zs but eventually admits it came off a 1972 car, which will not work with my Apr70 wiring. I've tried a late 1970 switch and a Fall'71 switch and neither wired up correctly.

Colin: Thanks, usually good advice; I've used a NY guy in the past with a similar name and was thrilled with the speed and precision with which he rehabbed a 1971 switch for me. It didn't fit my car (my fault; that's what caused me to research the electrical changes the early cars went thru and learned how many switch changes they had). I've tried to contact Dave both last year and again this year but he doesn't respond; maybe he just doesn't do this anymore or maybe this is him who moved to Washington state? He is a beekeeper by trade and the recent bee blight might have forced him to move. I'll call him.

Thanks for the input Colin. I'll keep that in my file if needed.
Sounds good to me Frank.

HAPPY to report I have located a May'70 switch which the witch will sell for a sandwich. It's on it's way overnight and if it works on my Apr'70 car I will again be fat dumb and happy.

hmm what kind of sandwich?
I'm guessing lean pastrami with mustard and sauerkraut on seeded rye.

Corned beef, cheeZe, pickles, mayonnaise, Russian dressing on Rye, and a cash contribution to his retirement fund.
Cheap at twice the price if it works.

It's installed, the lights work perfectly and now figuring out the wsw/wsw wiring.
