Give Vinny a call at Bedini Motorsports (860.355.182-nine). He usually has a bunch of spares there. Tell him you're our new member. 8)

What month/VIN is your '70?

Ok, I'll give him a call. Thanks Frank! My 1970 is July VIN 07578. I got it from the oroginal owner's wife in Bolton CT. It's 907 racing green and 95% original, down to the headlights. Should be on the road very soon! All I need is the radiator.

If it's sat for awhile, be sure to flush the block out as much as possible while you have the radiator off. You could check the fan bearing for wobble and spin the water pump to make sure you aren't going to have to remove the radiator again soon to make any repairs to the front of the engine. Then, when you buy the lower radiator hose, make sure there's a spring inside it to keep it from collapsing at speed when it's hot.

[If you don't already know about that, please ask. It's something everyone should be aware of].

The early green cars were awesome with the tan (brown) interior! I think that's everyone's favorite color scheme.

And by the way Derek, I notice your #7578 car is not yet listed in Carl Beck's national Z registry. Carl is our Florida member and is nationally recognized as the foremost authority on the history of the S30 cars. He has established the Z.Home.com Internet Z Car Club (IZCC) and is trying to account for each of the 1970 cars. Datsun only made about 10,000 of them in 1970 and about 7,000 of them came here to the USA; the rest of the world shared the other 3,000 cars. For the 1971 production they made over 35,000 cars of course, but we're still trying to figure out how many 1970s there are left. We estimate well below 3,000 and maybe fewer than 2,000. You can help by registering your car and I urge you to do that.

Go to www.ZHome.com and look in their Classic Z Owners Registry. It looks like this:
http://www.zhome.com/IZCC/ZRegisters/classic.htm
and your car should fit in here:

See? They're saving a parking space for your car.

Thanks guys! I already sent it to the registry, but I guess he hasn't posted it yet. I have both of my 71's in there too. And yes, the car sat for 27 years so it has a fresh engine, all new hydrolics and complete mechanical overhaul. The radiator is the final piece of the puzzle after almost 3 months and 123 hours of labor. Hopefully she'll be registered this weekend! Thanks again, everyone! - Derek

You sound more and more interesting the more you reveal! Three Zs; how jealous are we?!! Doesn't sound as if your engine will need anything more done to the front of it before the radiator goes back on.

If worst comes to worst, you can have the original radiator re-cored at a radiator shop, or order any of the modern aluminum upgrades which are very popular today. The original radiators were two-core aluminum and lasted only about 10 years. They did a so-so job of cooling the 2.4 if you didn't beat it, but hot days could send the temperature soaring.

Can't wait to zee your collection.

Haha thanks Frank. That's not to mention my early 260z daily driver/track car. I took the radiator to Perrault's in Meriden but they wasted two weeks of my time to tell me something I already knew (the fins were falling out) and decided to wait for me to contact them to tell me that I'm SOL. That's why I'm in such a hurry for a new radiator. The cars been sitting in the garage for two weeks waiting. I expected my old one to be fixed last week and now I'm rushing to find something. :? - Derek

Thanks everyone, I just ran to New Milford and got a 280z radiator from Vinny Bedini. Paul, I texted you about your 240z radiator. When the time comes I'd like to put in the correct one. Thanks again, everyone! - Derek
