My lower u-joint is shot and I'd rather not go through the hassle of removing the staked joint.
If you have a good one let me know.

I have one that might be better. I'd like to find those u-joints, then could rebuild these things.

I'll take it because my lower has a lot of play. Over on classiczcars there's a write up of using ATV u joints. The problem is the originals are staked in and they need to be ground out then the new ones either welded or some other way to keep them in. Apparently the diameter in the yoke shaft is an odd size.

I've been told that a Kawasaki ATV u-joint is a perfect fit for these....

After reading more it seems the early units are held by clips so that's what I must have.
The ATV units are what a lot of guys use.

I scored an almost new shaft assembly from a 260 with the staked in u-joint.
I had a heck of a time getting the old one off the steering rack pinion.
The new one is nice and tight and I painted it so even though it's not "correct" it's much safer and looks new.
I'll look into rebuilding my old one now.
