Apparently some inspired idiot decided to put a tire wall right where my 240Z wanted spin out after I massively overcooked Turn 7 at NJMP this past weekend.

Car 'almost' came to a stop, but nosed into the wall nonetheless. Isn't too bad really, but a hood is definitely needed, stat!

Someone had some rough but usable 240Z front end body parts listed on the forum from earlier this year, but I can't find the listing again.

I don't think Dave G will need them, since he put his Z into the body shop and they are disassembling it for a total restoration.

(PS which course did you run at NJMSP, Thunderbolt or Lightning? Turn 7 should be just before the Carousel?)

Thanks for the replies on this, Z folks is good folks.

Frank - you're right Turn 7 is the tight left hander after the bridge and before the carousel (they call it the lightbulb) at the Lightning circuit. Carousel is actually Turn 9.

I made a clean pass by a friend of mine in a TR7 but got on the brakes too little too late, which of course means that it doesn't count as a clean pass at all. I had just enough time to get on the brakes after I was past his car, but in the heat of the moment I basically just bolloxed it up.

I most regret not realizing my mistake in time and taking controlled, evasive action by just 'taking the exit ramp' into the grass - there is plenty of runoff area to the right. Just go straight, bleed off speed, and merge on the track again at Turn 8. Next time.

Don't feel bad. My first race (Watkins Glen) I got so 'lost', I lined up for the wrong turn. Slid sideways off the track and tore both shocks off the driver's side of the Austin Healey I had driven to the track. :oops: Used 2x4 scraps to prop the body up off the tires, and drove it 90 miles back home.
