I'm in the process of sandblasting/painting mine but there's a swollen section of rust between the reinforcement plate and the main bracket and would rather just get replacements. Anyone have spares around?

You're talking about motor mounts, right?

Vinny or Paul should have corners of their garages full of those.

Yes mounts but not the rubber isolators (I have new Nissan ones), the metal brackets that bolt to the engine. The part numbers are left side 11231-E4100, right side 11230-E4100. There's a set on ebay in good shape sandblasted for $49. http://www.ebay.com/itm/221449871905?ss ... 1423.l2649

I called Vinny Bedini today. He has a pair for you, cheaper than you can get on eBay. Call him at his speed shop: 860.355.182nine. He'll be there until late tonight.

Frank

Here's what I was talking about after paint.

I have clean ones from a later Z (probably 280) with the reinforcements etc. You can have 'em if you come get 'em.

Tim - in Torrington CT (or Shelton and you can pick them up at my work.)

They're too far gone for the acid treatment.
Actually they're still structurally ok but who knows for how long once I start driving it.

I just checked and the part numbers are different for the 280's

I trekked to Vinny's shop today and got a set of mounts.
He has a treasure trove of parts and a world of knowledge after more than 40 years.
He thought I needed 280's and actually I didn't know the difference.
Turns out they're the same except for a plate welded in to prevent fore/aft flex but the mounting points are the same.
I also picked up a fuel rail since mine's so badly pitted I'm surprised it didn't leak.
He had one in great shape that had already been blasted and ready for finish.
I'm thankful for the help from this forum.

Stay in touch with Vinny. He's forgotten more about these carz than most of us have ever learned.

When you say fuel rail do you mean the steel lines from the tank to the front ? ? ?

Sounds like I also need to trek down to see Vinny 8)

No not those, it's the brazed assembly that feeds the carbs.

Ahh Ok my 260z had one of those .. . . . . I had a leak today in the steel lines from the fuel pump to the fuel filter . . . . . we were able to go around it for now but it looks like I am going to need to replace them as a winter project.

I still think a visit to meet Vinny is a good idea, there is much I need that he does and where better to go.

He has shelves and shelves of engine blocks, heads, transmissions, 2 510 race cars, and anything you could think of and he uses all of it for restorations. There were 2 280's in different stages of assembly. He's a real stand up guy.
BTW the same industrial park is home to many race shops and I even saw an fairly new aston martin race car plus 2 BMW 2002's that are parts cars.
