Post subject:  70-72 carburetor floats

So I am trying to find carb floats for my 72 240z. I have looked for new ones online with no luck unless I wanna pay $119 each which I find crazy for an $8 part. Does anyne have or know anyone with NOS floats I can get my hands on. Thanks

Yeah, nobody wants to give these up anymore. You wind up with a useless carburetor and have to search for a new float yourself because you sold your old one.

Try these guys:

http://sucarb.co.uk/float-chambers-spares/floats.html

They're Brits, and they charge about $60 each for floats.

You can also write to Jimbo Frederick in Florida (Jim240Z@AOL.com). He has trainloads of NOS Z parts at his Z MECCA, but his prices are high.

You have to specify Hitachi SUs and know the exact model number for his year Z. I can look that up later tonight when I get a chance.

What's the name of the place near you, please?

Looks like the the float and chamber are different. Googled the HS4 and found floats that somewhat resemble the ones in the Hitachis:

I knew that the floats would probably be a little different but I take it that trying to make them work isnt worth the money that could be saved? The name of the place is Sports&Classics and a sample of the stuff they have for sale is on their eBay page. Very small place. The guys looked at me like I was from a different planet when I said I wanted to put the SM's in a Datsun. Bringing up hitachi didnt ring any bells and eventually I just brought them out to see the car and they bumped the price up for SM's on their ebay listing also. The number is 203-348-2226 and the website is http://gallery.sportsandclassics.com/

Thank you, sir.
The floats and needle valves changed twice (I believe?) over the years, and replacement floats came in two (or three) different materials. I will get around to looking up the exact info this man needs eventually tonight. Too many things going on here right now and I can't get off the phone long enough to get my manuals.... :?
