Anyone have a set of slotted rims that would fit a 1973 240Z?

Scott,

I have a set collecting dust in the basement with brand new tires. I don't have good pictures right now but here they are on my car when I first bought it. I don't know the exact size of the tires. i can get the specs later. They are in excellent condition with zero curb rash are pitting.

Those are the ones. Let me know the tire size and what you want for them.

Thanks,
Scott

In my humble opinion, those are the ONLY wheels which belong on an S30 Z car. 8)

They're called 5-slot mags, altho they are no longer made in magnesium. Today's are aluminum or stainless steel or chrome. Magnesium can't be extinguished by normal means in a fire, so we're 'protected' from them today. Much lighter than today's wheels, true mags were a racing must-have back in the day.

Just checked the tire specs. Tires are brand new Falken ZIEX ZE512 195-60H 14. I would take more pictures but I would like to clean them up a bit. I would like $400 for the set.

I believe I have some American Racing center caps. Now is the hard part of finding them. :D

Adam, $400 with the center caps is very fair. I'll take them. No rush, I'm on vacation for the next couple weeks but will connect with you when I'm back and we can figure out logistics.

Those things will look sweet on my silver 240.

Ok great. I will get them cleaned up and looking new between now and then. Going out and getting that aluminum cleaner that can only be used on raw aluminum. Bad stuff for clear coat wheels but man does it make this type of wheel sparkle.

I like the finish on those wheels. It looks like a bead blasted finish instead of polished. I polished my slotted mags and I don't like the look as much.

Adam,

Don't go crazy, if they look like the picture they are perfect. I love the brushed aluminum look. As I mentioned I'm away the next two weeks so please don't feel like you need to do it now.

Many thanks!

Scott

Oh no problem. The brushed finish won't go away. I just want to wash away greasy fingerprints and dirt from storage. Plus it gives me something to do during the day (i work second shift) when my girls want to go outside and play on the swing set!

My 5-slots are brushed too, but brake dust clung to them so badly I took them back off, scrubbed them down and painted them with silver wheel paint just so the dust wouldn't stick so bad.

Aluminum is more porous than we imagine, so the front wheels let dust seep right into them. Clear coat might have been a better idea for me, but I used what I had at hand.

BTW, when I first got them, I sandblasted each of them in a large blaster. Took all the rust and muck right off them. Did an excellent job, but you can't just leave them naked like that ~ they pick up every dirty fingerprint and iota of brake dust they can find. By the time I got them back from mounting the new tires on them, they were a mess.
