Well my rear diff in the 510 has seen better days... pulled it last night and the gear coming off the driveshaft is pretty chewed up. Time to upgrade. Looking for a r160 LSD - preferably CLSD and bolt right in without and wierd axle stubb issues. Might consider a clean welded one as well if the price was right. 4.11 would be awesome as well.

PM me if you have something your willing to let go.

The R160 is a Subaru item. The Zs never used them. Maybe you should try a Subie board:

Hey Frank - Thanks for the heads up. Already looking into them on that side. I figured it was unlikely any of the z guys here would have one- but it doesnt hurt to ask :D

You're absolutely correct ~ I asked on here for a Bultaco motorcycle before I finally found one. Never hurts to ask.

Just got off the phone with Vinny- He is swapping an LSD into a 4:11 diff for me- should be all set and have her back on the ground next week hopefully- now just need to figure out which replacement bolts to get from nissan- might rebuild the half shafts as well if I am feeling adventurous -one of them has a torn boot.

Ahhh... but its not so simple justin... Couple things- that LSD is a viscous, so not as good as a clutch pack- but also since it is from a newer subaru my axle stubs will not work since the Datsuns bolt in and the newer subarus use a clip on the inside...

Yeah, what's up with that? Why would Subaru change the securing method from a solid, easily-accessed bolt-on, to a less secure, hidden internal clip? Seemed like a step in the wrong direction to me, and it might have even cost more to make it that way.

Ah gotcha. Well I am glad you're getting an awesome unit installed soon!! Been missing you out on the track!

Frank- I think it might actually make a stronger axle since it can be a solid piece where ours needs to be hollow for the bolt...? There really isnt much side loading on that clip so its just keeping the axle from falling out...

There are options for running the newer Subaru Diffs - the 05+ STIs use a r180 clsd that will bolt right into our cars - then Todd over at wolfcreek has machined hybrid stubs that clip into the diff and then bolt onto our halfshafts- they come at a price though. also the quickest those diffs come is a 3.9 - the toughest part of the new subaru diffs is what are the splines. The STIs are 27 where the others are 25 i believe... there is a way to run all of them... but... it takes some creative ingenuity.

Justin- Yea definitely missing running her- hoping to get her back on the ground soon

Back on the hunt... Things fell through with Vinny - I guess he did not have an extra LSD unit.
