Hello friends,
I've got a call from a guy from Switzerland. He wants to buy a 240 Z (1970 - 1973) and asked me to help him. I should change my job! He's looking for a daily driver (ca. 12.000 USD). Do you know about a good 240Z which is currently for sale?

Thanks and BeZt
Thorsten

["I re-used all the original Datsun glass,..including the rare verticle rear defroster back glass"]

Hmmmm....not original on a 1972, that's for sure. Datsun switched to horizontal (not "verticle") defrosters in mid-1971.

I do believe that early 72 models came with vertical. All depends on how many that had left overi I owned a 12/71 production date 72 that had the vertical defroster glass. And I believe that car was mostly original.

Hard to tell in this photo but you can take my word it had vertical defroster.

Edit...just found a pic that shows the rear hatch in the background...

Sorry to go off topic but I thought Frank might like to see the photos I have on the 72 I sold before I got the 260. Here is the link ot the album.

The car in the link I posted is already sold, going to the Netherlands. According to the thread on ClassicZcar.com, it looks like Carl Beck referred the car to someone in Switzerland - probably Thor's contact. The owner struck a BIN deal and the money is moving.

Thor - is your friend still looking for a car? This might be worth checking out.

Here is the discussion on ClassicZCars.com. There are a few additional pictures on the Facebook link.

Hello Jim,

Thanks, yes he's still looking for a car. I passed the offer through to him.
Thanks if you would keep your eyes open.

OK Thor,
Here's another one:

Unrestored Series 1, VIN #5222, 56k miles, in Florida.

Hey Carl - do you know this car?

We've already discussed that white Z, Carl has recommended it likewise.
Low VIN, interesting Z,undoubtedly. We'll keep trying. The Suisse guy's favorite is the 71 240Z from Spokane. Otherwise: an East Coast candidate would be better.

Thanks for your help. If you discover a Z please let me know. We will keep that eBay auction in sight.

And yet another one pops up. It looks to be a nice car - interior is very clean with a dash cap, a slot in the console just to the right of the cig. lighter is just about the right size for the antenna rocker switch but not present. L28 and 5-speed transplant. The seller posts a lot of repeat photos. Would need see the history of the resto and parts to tie into the price.

Late-summer/early fall 1971 Z car.

What's with all the extra holes in his console? I've seen air conditioning knobs mounted in various locations around the console, but that's not what these are from (and he doesn't show an A/C control knob). Maybe the car once had road lamps or rallye lamps, or an auxiliary horn or something? Certainly not factory stuff.

Carl? Any guesses?

Frank

Not bad. I agree: pics of restoration would be helpful. 23,7 K$ is a lot of money!
